WR has been the position with the most amount of bodies in it. Outside of 2022 it has never been a particularly deep unit though as far as talent goes. We thought we had something the last 2 years but due to injuries and just a seemingly overall lack of development at the position it was a unit with about 6-7 C/C- level players. In 23 Squirrel flashed at times, but Keyton and Thornton couldn’t catch and clap in a cheap brothel. This past year Thornton was a nice big play option at times this year, Bru played his heart out every snap, but just isn’t the same after his injury was basically a flexed out TE. If the word of him having another year of eligibility is true I actually wouldn’t mind them keeping him solely as a depth piece and leader in that WR room. Brazzell made a handful of big catches this year. Outside of that though we really had a bunch of nothing at receiver. I said it to people when it happened, but obviously in hindsight they probably should’ve moved Seldon there towards the end of last season once Thornton got hurtYou realize WR has been by far our deepest position since Huep arrived right? Hard to get into the rotation when we don't substitute a lot and there's a bunch of talented upper classmen in front of you.
Man I really want to see Davis hit that pitts potential he has. Should be a total mismatch for linebackers and safeties.Since its silly season. And we are a bunch of recruiting dorks.
How allsum would it be to have Matthews at X, and Bama kid/Staley at Z. Then, line this cat up as a split end, at Y, and have Schnitzelman or Davis offset as either a decoy, blocker, or Hback.
Put your best catching burner in at RB.
Pretty sure I ran a variation of this in CFB 2004, when I was beating teams 157-2.
Losing 4-5 WR, with lack of any movement in porthole - combined with a slightly above average RC, (8th in SEC), wafts a vapor of days old grease pit that nag on memories of Worley wormburners, goal line fumbles, and drops. BVS fodder.Man I really want to see Davis hit that putts potential he has. Should be a total mismatch for linebackers and safeties.
+ and consensus are the same. It’s just On3’s term for it. However, “composite” is still completely different. You could be a composite 5 star without being ranked a 5 star by any service lol.Maybe it isn't but isn't that what they call a consensus 5*? If there's 5*+ now I don't know the difference. Haven't followed recruiting as hard the last year or two as I used too so I'm a little out of the loop.
Yeah. I knew the composite crap was goofy just wanted to make sure I wasn't way off the road with consensus and the+ lol+ and consensus are the same. It’s just On3’s term for it. I remember the WRs dropping a lot of balls. With their lack of consistency I don't know why it is argued we should have passed it more.Do you remember all those quarters without points? Pepperage Farm remembers. Like I said, Heupel made the best of what he had this year, hence the style we saw this season. All I’m saying is I’d like to see our future offense more like 2022 than 2024.
Yeah Matthews was a top 5ish WR prospect in his class. Jeremiah Smith undoubtedly was the No. 1 WR in that class and rightfully so. Matthews was behind Cam Coleman, Ryan Williams, Micah Hudson, and TJ Moore in the ratings but still an elite prospect. Was ahead of Wingo in the composite. He was just 5 stars. Great talent, and glad we have him. Several receivers were rated over him. Take it for what its worth.
