'22 GA QB Sam Horn (Mizzou commit)

Seems like we have quite a bit of ground to make up on Horn. We may have slow played him too much. Sure hope not.
read what callahan posted earlier.

he wasn't slow played. he was NO played by the previous staff. sounds like they may have actually done JH and company a favor by having NO relationship with him, as it at least sounds he's genuinely appreciative of the fact there's legitimate interest now from his favorite school. late, yes. out of the picture? doesn't sound like it.

This never works for us. Yet every cycle we see it work for other programs where they can offer someone last second and he flips because he grew up a fan. I can't remember us EVER having that happen.

I guess the BVS kicks in but here is something I have been thinking about. I am sure Horn knows Ty was commuting today. I wonder if Horn was sitting back thinking well let’s see if they turn up the heat on me if Ty goes somewhere else? Especially if Missouri and UF have been going at him hard. They may be telling him that TN considers him a backup plan only. Not saying that is the case. But certainly is a possibility. If we lose out on Horn as well we are in deep trouble.

It’s just the state of the program. It’s more than likely we don’t get any of the top 10 instate guys. Also, I think the 2022 recruiting class will be somewhere in the 30-35 range nationally and will be one of the worst in a long time. It is what it is.

We may come up short in-state, but I think we will do better that expected in the midwest with Banks and the LB coach from Michigan working this area.

GQ's Sexiest Man Alive (AKA Tony V) will help us lockdown Horn since our Baseball Vols are now by far our most proud program on campus. Gotta be enticing to Horn to play both QB for his favorite school growing up AND be on a Top-10 baseball team in the country.

Well Heupel did start reaching out and communicating with Horn once he got here. I get what you're saying that "optics" may look like Horn was a backup plan but Heupel started recruiting him hard almost immediately after arriving.
