Yeah, id say this one is going another direction.
@secking @Ericvol2096 @Glitch @TN-POSSUM Any of you insiders know?
We didn’t pay as much as ohio state, at least according to ohio state and Tennessee “insiders”. Sanders said himself it was about relationshipsA 5-star OT just committed to Texas Tech last week over Texas because they dropped a big bag. In today's world of college football recruiting it's all about money. Whoever pays the most will get the kid. As a result, the key is evaluating correctly more than ever.
It's obvious that if we really want a kid we'll pay whatever it takes (see David Sanders). If we're letting Texas just scoop him up at the last minute without trying to match then we must obviously not evaluate him as being worth what they must be willing to pay.

Texas State, IMO.AP:
I’ve spoken to his father. They are adamant that they aren’t doing any interviews before his 7pm announcement tomorrow. It’s my belief that neither school knows as of right now. Could it change? Yes. I always watch the national predictions in these instances. If none come in from someone like Steve or Chad then nobody knows and it’s a unicorn in these recruiting battles. I spoke with Steve and he has nothing to make him come off his TN pick. Chad hasn’t been told either. As of right now, it certainly feels like everyone is flying blind. We will see…

Not loving the timing. If it’s Texas it may be a case of being bullied off him with a too large amount. Who wants to go from Marietta to Austin? Kid doesn’t have family that would rather drive 3 hours than trek halfway across the country?
Anyway, I don’t think this is the kid to get in an all-out bidding war over. Like to have him, not devastated if we don’t. Hiter and Keys are the more important pieces rn.
Money is part of it for a lot of the elite top 10 percent of players, but it’s not always the top dollar that gets the player. That’s overblown hoopla from folks like you. Other factors go in with many players. Being close on money is often enough. And other factors also come into play for parents and players. You blanketing all players with the same mentality is way off base. GBOA 5-star OT just committed to Texas Tech last week over Texas because they dropped a big bag. Not everyone wants to jump on a plane once a week, but you’re right… money tends to mitigate the distance factor. I’m just telling myself that distance and his teammate being a Vol lean favor us.Obv want him in Knox but 95% of kids would say Austin is a way cooler place to live than Knox. If he’s getting paid then the family being far away is less important bc he has the means to pay for travel.
