'26 GA LB Brayden Rouse (Tennessee commit)

sucks being one of the first schools to discover him when he wasn’t big time yet, then when the heavy hitters come calling he’s gone lol

Until he actually commits to Texas or at the very least gets Fong'd there then quit with the loser mentality. I'm glad our staff doesn't take on the mindset of some of our fans or we'd never land a single recruit.

Should Heupel have thrown in the towel on David Sanders last cycle when Ohio State made a huge push and their insiders were suggesting he was coming there?

Sack up and let things play out. This is the reality of recruiting with the top dogs.

Here’s what was said

Brayden Rouse, LB, Marietta (Ga.) Kell
The No. 7 linebacker in the Class of 2026 according to the Rivals Industry Rankings is inching closer to a decision. Tennessee led for well over a year because of the priority status the Vols staff gave to the Peach State product. Then Texas entered the picture.
After a fantastic official visit to Austin, Rouse began thinking harder about the Longhorns. Even after his final official visit to see Josh Heupel‘s program in Knoxville, Texas felt like it was in good shape heading into Rouse’s kitchen table time.
Since then, the buzz around Austin has been positive and optimistic. The Longhorns had a lot of slack to make up in this recruitment and have positioned themselves about as well as they could with what appears to be an impending decision. Rouse has not yet announced a date for his commitment, but his quotes following his visit to Austin gave the impression that he wasn’t going to linger on a decision.

That doesn't exactly scream confidence. Just a lot of nothing like we get from our writers about "feeling good".

Texas also views themselves like Bama does, believing they'll get anyone they want. They thought they had that corner from Louisiana we got a few years ago that's now at Vandy.

Plus we have his teammate likely committing to us, which certainly doesn't hurt.

Guessing this isn’t a good sign for us, since Texas just put out that he may be making a decision soon.
Wiltfong said on Wednesday last week he wouldn’t be surprised to see him come off the board over the weekend. Texas boards don’t have anything groundbreaking that’s different than what we’ve heard recently

Not loving the timing. If it’s Texas it may be a case of being bullied off him with a too large amount. Who wants to go from Marietta to Austin? Kid doesn’t have family that would rather drive 3 hours than trek halfway across the country?

Anyway, I don’t think this is the kid to get in an all-out bidding war over. Like to have him, not devastated if we don’t. Hiter and Keys are the more important pieces rn.
