-WiltfongAfter talking to a source with knowledge of the recruitment, I’ve logged a prediction in favor of the Burnt Orange.
Quinn has already been to Tennessee this season for the Georgia game. The plan is to return to Austin this season.
Texas was the runner-up for Quinn the first time in his process. He has felt at home on past visits.
“Everything about it stood out — the energy around the program, how the coaches are building something special, and just how at home I felt on campus,” Quinn said. “Coach Sark and Coach (LaAllan) Clark really broke down how I’d fit in their defense and I got to spend some real time with the players.
“The vibe in Austin is just different.”
Texas currently has Rivals No. 5 ranked recruiting class. My predictions joins old ones from Joe Cook and Eric Nahlin that are now looking good in my opinion.
It doesn't sound like he'll recommit soon any way so there's probably going to be a little back-and-forth in this one for a time.He may end up at Texas. But he’s going to be in Starkville this weekend and obviously was JUST in Knoxville immediately before decommitting. This thing is far from a done deal IMO, and Fong just projects.
Dre Quinn decommitted from Clemson on Thursday evening. He is from just down the road outside of Starkville, before he moved over to Atlanta. Mississippi State has been working to get him to campus for the last month and he will be on hand for tomorrow’s game, multiple people told Volquest.
We will see if that is the case coming up on Saturday. Obviously, the Bulldogs will be trying to get him to take a much harder look at them, but getting to watch Tennessee in person for the second time in three weeks is definitely a bonus for Coach Chop. Tennessee’s biggest competition, though will be Texas as they were deep in it before Quinn committed to Clemson the first time.
Steve Wiltfong put a prediction in for Texas on Thursday afternoon when he decommitted so it will be interesting to see how Quinn plays the next several days and weeks ahead.
What I've found from following recruiting closely in the NIL age is with coveted prospects it's going to usually about where they can get the biggest bag. But for some guys location trumps money with the difference is relatively small. Tennessee has gotten some bargains that way, because on top of that they are putting guys in the league. Hopefully this is another.I CAN continue to hope the total financial analysis, payments, travel expenses for games and return home, game weekend housing and food and cost of living for him, favor us . He has lots of spreadsheet time available.
Fundamentally not worried about Edge position. I’m ok with Texas getting him if we can get Rogers and/or Garcia given our depth need at IDL.Hope this is one of those soft Fong predictions. Hate that he put in the CB so fast.
