Tennessee hosted 2027 Mississippi State cornerback commitment
Brandon Allen Jr. over the weekend for an official visit. Following the trip, the West Lake (Ga.) standout went in-depth on the visit with
Volquest.
“What I enjoyed about the visit was the people,” Allen said of this. “I enjoyed the people around the facility. That is always a point for me. If I am going somewhere, I want to be comfortable with the people in the building. I want to be around people every day that come in and work for themselves. When I got the offer from Tennessee, I was happy because it is one of those universities around the country that is like, wow. Then, I got here, and it exceeded my expectations. I loved it.”
Allen has cultivated a strong relationship with Tennessee Cornerbacks Coach Derek Jones throughout the process.
“Coach Jones is a funny guy. He wants to develop people as a player and more importantly as a man. He wants to get the best out of you and prepare you for life,” Allen said.
Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel’s ability to relate to Allen throughout the weekend was also important.
“Man, for a head coach, he is really down to earth. Some head coaches can be hollywood, but he is really down to earth and talks to you. He has hit me up every day since I have been offered, and he has treated me the same way since I got here.
The Mississippi State commitment was able to learn plenty more about his football fit on Rocky Top, as Tennessee answered plenty of Allen’s questions.
“They just see me being a corner,” he said of this. “They see me being nothing but a corner. They believe I can play field and boundary and use my length and speed to cover the best players on the field.”
What is next for Allen following this visit?
“I go to Mississippi State next week, then I will be making a final decision on July 4th,” Allen said of this.
He is focused on Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee at this point. So, where do the Vols stand?
“I knew before I came here, it was going to be here, Mississippi State or South Carolina. This visit helped a lot,” Allen said.
Allen is ranked as the No.620 overall prospect, No.67 cornerback and the No.74 overall prospect from the state of Georgia in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Georgia Tech is another program that has been highly involved with Allen as well.
