'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

Arik seems like a Happy Meal prize guy to me and with Pruitt gone he won’t be getting prizes so........

Hey he's your QB i get it. You may even try to say he's a better fit for Mullen's system. He's worse than Felipe Franks...
You better hope one of your freshman is ready or get a bigtime transfer at QB

Nothing, I mean, NOTHING supports what you’re saying. The man has 86 passing attempts in 3 seasons at UF and has been waiting his turn. Nobody has ever looked at his body of work and concluded, “hmm, he can’t throw.” Well, except you, and some Georgia Twitter fans who are also in denial over how much Emory has already played and proven, just hatred for UF and a hope that they do poorly.

This will be a post to revisit after Emory is lighting up the league in 2021. Or, it’ll be one to revisit if suddenly, despite what we’ve seen in a ton of game action, Emory suddenly “can’t throw” and is “worse than Franks.”

Keep holding your breath on the NCAA voting on that on 8/1. They've already backtracked on voting on it multiple times. I couldn't care less what the gators do, nor do 99.9999999999% of Volnation.

And if Gilbert isn’t eligible this year, insert Keon Zipperer and Kemore Gamble. Gamble is a proven SEC TE, ask Georgia as he lit their asses up when Pitts went out. And Zip is going to be better than Gamble, he probably would have had 40+ catches if a guy named Kyle Pitts wasn’t on the team.

Depth. This is why you recruit quality depth.

We know y’all are better than us and will be for the foreseeable future. We get it

Huge addition to the Florida offense.

The subheading here is, Mullen continues to be masterful in pulling 5-star guys out of the portal. He’s literally the best in college football at it, and yes, guys like Saban and Dabo don’t need to be, but Mullen is enhancing the talent on his team via the portal. He added two 5-star offensive skill players in Bowman and Gilbert, in addition to two big-time DT’s in Shelton and Newkirk, just in the last several weeks. Mullen’s list of successful portal players is unbelievable:

Jon Greenard - starter - NFL pick
Van Jefferson - 2 year starter - NFL pick
Tre Grimes - 2 year starter - sure-fire NFL pick
Adam Shuler - 2 year starter
Jean Delance - 3 year starter
Brenton Cox - consensus 5 star
Justin Shorter - consensus 5 star
Lorenzo Lingard - consensus 5 star
Demarckus Bowman - consensus 5 star
Arik Gilbert - consensus 5 star

He’s also got several 5 star guys he’s recruited out of HS:

Derek Wingo - Rivals 5 star
Corey Collier - Rivals 5 star
Jason Marshall - 247 composite 5 star
Gervon Dexter - consensus 5 star

And I’m certain I’m missing some guys. Talk about a roster transformation. Florida had, what 2 or 3 five stars on the roster when Mullen arrived? Now they’ve got 5 star guys up and down both sides of the ball.

Heupel will close the gap. Pruitt would have been 0 for his life against Mullen, but Huepel will be much better, if he can get the players. And he’ll get his share. Just gotta be patient, this’ll take a few years.

Heupel will not close the gap. I expect him to be a huge failure based off his trend at UCF and his recruiting abilities at UCF. Don’t even get me started on his defense giving up 500YPG. Of course you approve of the hire.

It is what it is, hope I’m wrong I hope he ends up being the greatest coach of all time
The sample size just isn't large enough to accurately make a statement like this. I promise i'm completely underwhelmed by this hire. He better have some sense and bring in some folks with Southern ties in recruiting or this could get even uglier.

But to say 'it is what it is' implies finality. Finality cannot occur in present. Hoepful is a good mid major coach, lets wait and see.

I’m not gonna sit here and say I know for a fact he’s gonna flop. I do think he will be better than Dooley and Pruitt, I just don’t think he will get us back to being a powerhouse. But, I could be and hopefully am wrong

You’re trying way too hard, especially since we don’t give af about Florida. So....shut up

Nobody we could’ve hired, outside of Nick Saban or Urban Meyer, was gonna get us back to being a powerhouse.

We need to get back to beating the teams we’re supposed to beat and having a chance at upsets that can make a good season turn into a great season.

We’re on like step 2 and you’re wanting step 1,000.

He’s done great in the portal, but his HS recruiting seems mediocre at best. According to 247, 5* Terrion Arnold was a UF lean until recently when UF filled up. Just seems a bit odd that Mullen can’t hold a spot for a 5* DB who reportedly wants to go to UF.

I think he’s significantly better than Pruitt. I’ll leave it at that.

5* safety that both Saban and Smart are recruiting personally! And both have said he could play corner for them! But yeah, UF doesn’t need him!! Ha
