'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

Florida would be a good move for him. Only question is who will his QB be? I assume Dan Mullen will find someone when his starter gets hurt right before our game.

Possibly waiting til spring, get grades up and maybe to see if the sec allows inter conference transfers.
Do you mean intraconference transfers? Even those transfers are already allowed, subject to sitting out a year (except for exceptions made in 2020).

Yeah, so it’s the sitting out a year thing that I don’t think some of these players are so high on. Plus heard that they may push the one time rule out further. Did hear on a podcast that the sec is likely to allow for players to play immediately because they would rather strengthen the SEC and not Clemson, FSU. Okalahoma etc.

I’m not actually Rusty but have heard they are trying to find the mole leaking to the press. How you choose to do your business is your business but you never want it playing out in the press, not in the internet world. You do more harm than good and that stuff forever stays on the net. If you want to find cause, that’s fine, but no one should know until after he is gone and then you just find out you saved 14 mil due to a couple small violations. Don’t make it harder for you, and easier for everyone else...
Of course that's exactly what Rusty WOULD say.

If he’s homesick, doubt he goes to UT or UF.
UGA... they haven’t hit on a 5 Star in a few weeks and are due...😞

Hopefully he looks at UF's depth chart and realizes they have a bunch of RB's listed at QB. Their offense is going to be very QB run heavy for the forseeable future with Emory and Richardson.

Nope. Wont play alongside Babydaddy Washington.
That’s been refuted. They hardly play the same position anyway. Gilbert is a big pass catcher can line up on the line or split out. His biggest value is if he goes to a team with a good pass catcher at RB and a serviceable TE, that team will be able to go from 12 to 11 to 5 wide personnel without subbing once. All That being said, not real sure where he ends up at the moment and every school is probably talking to him about being a receiver that puts his hand in the dirt like 10-15% of the time.

I am sure our uncertainty at the HC position is a tremendous help with Gilbert

What uncertainty? Just because people in here says there is uncertainty? Or media look in here and then report there is uncertainty?
Maybe all the news over the last 48 hours will stop this uncertainty talk. Probably not.

Perception is sometimes reality. And even if you believe Pruitt is safe for 2021, it isn't hard to imagine his seat is white hot. If you can't see how a potential recruit would look at our football program from afar and arrive at the idea that it is clouded in some level of uncertainty, be it this year or next, then you're head is buried in the sand.

Definitely don’t have my head in the sand. However, if you are a player of Gilbert’s level of talent; you have two choices:
1. Go to one of the top shelf schools who will most likely be in at least one NC game (This is exactly what he did by going to LSU and maybe is what he will do again at GA, AL, Clemson, OK, or OSU).
2. Go to a Power 5 school that has the right player personnel to highlight your talents. Additionally, you will be seen as one of, if not the best player on the team (This is trickier and certainly I could think of 5-10 schools that fit this bill specifically for him, being a TE. Sure, UT might not be the slam dunk here, but, when your former HS 5-star QB and friend is at one of these schools, unless you have your head in the sand, it’s a realistic option).

What does either option have to do with the idea of whether our current state of affairs is viewed as an uncertainty by recruits? That was the matter of debate.

Your own words were, "What uncertainty?". There is plenty of perceivable uncertainty surrounding our program which could affect any recruit's decision to jump aboard, especially one with Gilbert's options. To suggest otherwise is naive.

See, now that's not how this message boarding thing works. Rumors are only debunked when they no longer help us, lol.

Seriously, re Gilbert, there seems to be more going on here than just being homesick if he doesn't enroll anywhere for the spring.
