We parked nextdoor to G11 at G17 two years ago. G11 is a little smaller and has smaller parking spaces than G17. Getting there isnt a problem, its getting out that is terrible. Traffic officers let you go certain directions some games and then block you on others. A be prepared to sit for hours before the traffic moves if you are at the top of the garages. The walk to the stadium isnt bad, a hill to climb but overall isnt bad. There is a little green space around those garages but not too much. I got G11 this year too. I'm a little worried that they messed up the selection process and I wont actually get a parking pass. We will see, the parking pass isnt in my account yet.
Found this quote from someone about those garages ...
"And the getting out issue was exacerbated by the KPD over the last two years. To the point where we moved our passes this year. You're right, it can take hours to move in the garage.
Used to be you'd be moving, just very slowly. But recently they changed the traffic management. To the point of you never knew a repeatable route. Sometimes you could go straight up to Cumberland Ave. Sometimes you had to turn left. Sometimes you'd get to Cumberland and could go left, sometimes you'd have to go on through or turn right.
I think their goal was to just make traffic move somewhere, even if it's the opposite way you needed to go. That causes people sent off in the opposite direction to try to find routes back the right way, which creates even more chaos.
Many times last year we'd get forced so many different turns to the left we'd be all the way at the Ag campus leaving, when what we wanted to do was hit Alcoa Hwy to I40W.
And it would be less than optimal but fine if you knew that was the way it was going to be every week. But it wasn't. The traffic cop at the corner of Lake and 18th would randomly pick a way to send us, and they'd yell at you if you showed the least indication you wanted to go another way (blinker, etc).
I know part of the road is closed at Lake, which means G11 will probably have to go out the bottom, which reduces the number of exits. Or are they going to let you leave on the higher entrance and go back west?
We didn't want another year. As you can tell, our experience in G17 was pretty bad from my long diatribe."
