G-Mac is the real deal.

We simply can’t go into the season with only 2 QB’s on the roster. Therefore, I expect us to get a QB from the portal.
Yeah I agree, I'm thinking that's why they might be looking at that Mizzou QB. Maybe they want someone who can come in if needed, but I honestly think Brandon or G-Mac are both better than him.

Why do you think that? They have yet to take meaningful snaps in a game. Just bring in a portal QB and let them compete.

Heupel won't be paying Leavitt(sp) $5 mil+ to compete for a starting spot.
I agree, but I was talking about the Missouri QB, who is much worse than Leavitt. But who knows maybe Josh could make him into the next Peyton Manning, I just doubt that.

Not saying this specifically about GMac, but players want to play now without earning it. There shouldn’t be anything gifted to you just because of your rating.

If I was GMac and the only thing keeping me off the field was durability issues concerning my weight, I would be spending every bit of my free time addressing that. Every sport has their own training staff and each player receives a folder with their own specialized workout plan designed for their specific goals. He has been there a year so either the training staff or he has dropped the ball. He has access to as many calories as he can consume, supplements, and a world class workout facility.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say after watching this I'm sold Josh knows he has a hidden gem in George MacIntyre. After watching this tape I'm sold on him, he just needs to add weight... some of these throws it does not matter the level of competition, they are perfect. He is also WAY faster running than Joey, he is probably faster than Hooker.

A high school highlight videos as a junior is great recruiting tool. But look at the number of high school 4 and 5 stars that fade away. He has talent for sure. But high defenses are not D1 Maybe he sees ghosts back there or can’t process fast enough. I will accept the experts judgement

Some people are talent blind, it's fine. Watch the tape, look at ball placement, and his top end speed for starters, the kid is fast, elusive, and can make all the throws unlike Nico.
Wasn't going to get into all this, but you can't ignore the level of competition he went up against in your highlights video.

I'm sorry, I just don't ever see George playing significant time at Tennessee ever, unless of injuries to others. Just my thoughts. This is not his fault, I'm sure, but he was part of some of the worst teams his highschool ever had. One of the seasons was historically bad, maybe their worst ever. Don't know much about the particulars of why that was and obviously not squarely on one player, but..........

Maybe he simply can't add a lot of weight. Some people are just like that. Especially kids into their 20s. Just like for some people, especially older, it's nearly impossible for some to lose weight no matter what they try.

This situation shows the flaws in building a team by recruiting high school athletes. Certainly, you have to recruit good to great kids, but only a handful of freshmen are prepared to play and compete. We had some freshman who did that, but where will they be next year and the year after? The challenge now is to retain them. The portal and NIL mean that the strategy is is hire developed players and fit them into a cohesive unit. If you spend your money on high school kids, other schools will hire them away when they are ready to contribute. Apparently, Cignetti is the new portal king.

George weighs 200lbs soaking wet! On a 6'6" frame, that is too damn skinny to play a 9 game SEC schedule and I'm sure he understands that. The kid cannot gain weight for some reason. He has got to find a way to put on at least 20 pounds between now and August
Cookout 5x daily should do it.

Im sure plenty of them have trouble putting on weight. Like I was saying, each athlete has their own specific workout and nutrition plan to attain their goals. Training and nutrition staffs that are world class. They work with different body types every year and know the science behind achieving whatever that athlete needs to do ( add or lose weight). After a year of having access to that you should have seen more results. Not saying a finished product but a lot more than has materialized.

f we can not get a starter, get someone who can fill in. I believe Gmac or Brandon will be able to get it done as well as Joey or the Dude from Missouri. It would be good to bring in a starter, but the longer we go without signing one, the less likely wee will get one.

He sure has the touch throwing the ball and can read the field during the play. I wish he was weighing in at 210.

Well the S&C coach was just fired, so….

Fair but in the world of the portal, do you roll with a guy you see great potential in or go get a baller you've seen play at a high level? In a high level place like Knoxville, it could be your job every season. If hes the best QB on the roster, he'll play

Just curious… how would twenty pounds spread over a 6’6” frame ensure that he will avoid injury?

The excuses for keeping GMac off the field do not impress me. He is extraordinarily talented, the real deal with over a year of coaching in JH's system. No way he should be riding pine this year. I am starting to wonder if Heupel is turning out to be another head coach who struck it rich and heavily over-invested in doughnuts.

Nico was a red shirt freshman. Do you think it’s realistic for GMAC or Faison to be much better than Nico? This isn’t the year for Heuepel to play trail and error with the quarterback.
