G. Jones not happy at all..

I don't understand why these players can't execute the boring, politically correct athlete's response when asked questions like this -- "I'm not going to get into all that...our focus is on getting better this week, hopefully beating Vanderbilt, and helping our current coach finish his career as what he's always been here at Tennessee, a winner."

I've lost a lot of respect for Fulmer over the past weeks with the deliberate lack of discipline he's enforced on these players. If they respected him, as they say they do, they wouldn't make these kinds of comments to the media if he'd instructed them not to. The fact is, he likes the players making these comments....they glorify his massive ego, and help him hold onto his delusional belief that he was "wronged" by Hamilton and the University. It's pathetic.

I agree completely. :good!:

...but just don't have any recruits in the car when he does. G Jones needs to keep his mouth shut to the press. His little escapade didn't help Fulmer's cause.

gerald needs to shut his mouth and worry about his play. We have too many opinions on this team. Everyone needs to shut up and play ball.

I couldn't agree more...
His "Coach" would still be here if they actually played well. I'm not a Fulmerite by any stretch of the imagination, but I have been saying we needed get rid of Fulmer now for about 4yrs.

The players have all of Fulmer's blood on their hands. This team, this year is 100% the reason Fulmer is not returning. You don't sign contract extensions to then pay it out as severence pay.

G. Jones, shut up and play ball!

Angered by the way he learned of Fulmer's exit from the program, Jones said he'd be just fine with again learning of the program's new leader from media reports.

"Probably the media. I really don't have too many things to say to Mike Hamilton right now," said Jones when asked if he'd prefer to hear the news from Tennessee's athletics director. "(Hamilton) took a lot of stuff away from me, something that was very valuable, and that's my head coach. Coach Fulmer is one of the main reasons why I came here, and for him doing that, I could care less."

Jones also said he believes Hamilton faces immense pressure with this hire.

"I hope so. I sure hope so, because if not (the right hire) he's going to have a whole bunch of people mad at him," Jones said. "Well, (Hamilton) already has a bunch of people mad at him. So, he better make that up. He better make that up."
Hey Gerald,
You need to shut your mouth, quit showing up to class drunk at 830am, start playing hard, and respect your university. Remember the players had a big part in him leaving.

I've got an idea... take down that sign they all smack as they are going onto the field; you know that one that says "today I will give my ALL for Tennessee..." It should have been taken down after week 3, but it's never too late.

These guys are so messed up at this point, they don't give a crap. They are going through the motions at this point and the next two games will be more of the same, and mercifully, it will be over.

Until then, CPF needs to tell the players to shut up. Don't expect them to prove anything on the field.

Not to sound like a jerk......but who cares what the players think?...Just shut your pie hole...go to school..play ball.....and stay outta trouble!

I wouldn't be happy if I were Gerald Jones either. I'm pissed and I just have to watch the embarrassment on the field - Gerald has to be a part of it.

I like Gerald as a player, but he does need to shut up. If you don't like it, then transfer.

If he's not happy, he can hit the road with fulmer. Maybe he can get some of that buyout money.

I have a problem with most of the "shut up G.J. posts" so far. He is a player, a person with an opinion, and probably one of the people most affected by this decision. He is understandably upset, and if he chooses to vocalize it, so be it. Let's not get all bent out of shape just because he wants a good coach. We do, too. There is no need to tell him to transfer or take a hike; he is a good player and there is little doubt that we will need him in the coming years. Sometimes I think people just get worked up for the fun of it.

Besides, if it were Eric Berry who said this, I think most would be humming a different tune...

I think it's fine that they can express their opinions.

That being said, they should face some consequences for their actions.

Namely running their asses off. The players are upset but you can't bash the CEO of a company and not expect to get in trouble.

There is a reason for that, too.

Berry made a statement ahortly after the annoucement which led you to believe he was not happy with the situation either. Many who did not know the NFL rules even speculated if he would leave for the NFL as a result.

Anyone who doesnt know that a player cant leave for the NFL after two seasons out of high school is someone you dont want to listen to anyway

I didn't read all replies, but what the hell did think was going to happen to Foolmer. Were they suppose to run this by the players before they made their decision? That is what the hell is wrong with this program the players think their opinions matter.

Hamilton brought the opinions. Not sure anyone could have done it without players voicing opinions, but Hamilton is responsible for these outbursts.

No he's not. If Fulmer was so concerned about how the players would find out about his being dismissed, he could have called a meeting with the players Sunday night. Fulmer has done nothing but try to pour fuel on the fire ever since this happened. In the end, he cared more about his self and his ego than about the program and University.

Vent some of that anger at vandy this weekend. It would be nice if these guys would quit talking for one week and play football.

When will all of this end?????????
Gerald Jones, just shut your cake hole and catch the football & show up to class. How hard is that? Do that and you will make millions or will it all go up in "smoke" Its up to you really.

I don't have a problem with the "shut up" posts.

Put up, or shut up. UT, and Gerald, have not done the former. This is, potentially, the worst team in recent, modern, or ever, UT history. Like it or not, Gerald Jones is part of that team. I have no problem with him being loyal to his coaching staff. But if he's going to "vent", perhaps he should look inward, rather than outward. If he feels that strongly about Fulmer, then he should follow Phil to his next job. I wish him well.

There was UT football before Gerald Jones. There will be UT football after Gerald Jones. Probably better football. He can shut up, and be part of it, or go find another school to run his mouth at. JMO, and simple as that.

The fact that Eric Berry has remained relatively silent through this period says quite a bit about the difference in character between Eric and Gerald.

Go Vols.

Its a difference in maturity level in my opinion. Some of these kids just simply need to grow up.
