Angered by the way he learned of Fulmer's exit from the program, Jones said he'd be just fine with again learning of the program's new leader from media reports.

"Probably the media. I really don't have too many things to say to Mike Hamilton right now," said Jones when asked if he'd prefer to hear the news from Tennessee's athletics director. "(Hamilton) took a lot of stuff away from me, something that was very valuable, and that's my head coach. Coach Fulmer is one of the main reasons why I came here, and for him doing that, I could care less."

Jones also said he believes Hamilton faces immense pressure with this hire.

"I hope so. I sure hope so, because if not (the right hire) he's going to have a whole bunch of people mad at him," Jones said. "Well, (Hamilton) already has a bunch of people mad at him. So, he better make that up. He better make that up."

gerald needs to shut his mouth and worry about his play. We have too many opinions on this team. Everyone needs to shut up and play ball.

Also talked about the QB situation saying he thought BJ should get a chance and that Crompton is slower at reading the defense than Stephens is.

Sorry G Jones but yall are 3-7. Get over it. Have fun being remembered as the player on the worst team in UT history

Hamilton brought the opinions. Not sure anyone could have done it without players voicing opinions, but Hamilton is responsible for these outbursts.

I would really like to know if it was Mr. Fulmer himself that chose to let the team know so late (so that they might follow him to the press conference) and caused this problem in the first place...

...it's got to be hard to lose your coach like this...but the best thing these players can do is decline interviews....it doesn't help the situation and it doesn't help them.

:ermm: .... Gerald may want to check that...is it just me or is that a big no no. Do you have a link to that? That would shock me...

"I think Nick throws the ball a lot earlier than Jonathan coming out of the breaks, so that's different," Jones said. "It's not really too much different. I don't want to say what's good or what's bad. Just the difference is Crompton is a lot slower with his reads than Nick."

Fulmer knew the Sunday after the USC loss... the other coaches found out the next day at 10:30 A.M.

Yes, Fulmer had every opportunity to make this information know to the team before Chris Low broke the story.

Not exactly....it's not like this wasn't brewing before Gerald and many of his classmates were on campus....

The ball began rolling a while back... but if they would have beat Florida, Georgia or Alabama... or even stayed competitive in all three... we probably wouldn't be where we are now.

i.e. this team not executing game after game after game... cemented it.

the players obviously think Fulmer is an awesome coach.. and we all know they have talent..
so i wonder what they think the reason is why we keep loosing game after game??
i guess they blame it all on the QB trouble?

I thought that as well for a while but I am thinking I might have been wrong.

Whatever coach comes in next better let these boys (I usually call them men, but with current events) know quick he ain't their damn daddy.

You know Fulmer can recruit, but maybe his style of recruiting in his later years has been skewed towards a type of player that is soft.

Blame yourself and your teammates Gerald... that's why your coach is out of a job.

here here
BUT..they were also so damned spoiled by an undisciplined coach.....who the hell can blame them?
next year they will have to work to just START on the football team.....THAT'S NOT FAIR!!! :cray:
damn sissys.

i know these kids have been through alot... but they need to shut their mouth.. if they want to blame anybody they can blame the boosters and the 500,000 fans who have paved the way for him to even play in the environment he does..We wanted him out... We pushed Hamilton... Gerald should be proud that he still has a chance to wear the uniform and still has the chance to represent the state of Tennessee and our university.. If there is any other reason than that than please sir, show yourself to the door
