G-Gun to Philly

Correct. Don't tell the kiddies, though; they are busy hating on a kid who stuck it out through 4 offensive coordinators, 3 coaches, and still led the team in receptions and first downs his senior season.

+1 I liked G. Jones While he was here. Everyone should remember D. Moore was a star for UT but they wouldn't Of converted as many third downs without him.

Overly harsh reaction to G.Jones. Guy played his heart out under some of the worst circumstances in TN history.

I'll never understand so called VOL fans that hate on current and former players they way they do. Arian Foster, Eric Ainge, Casey Clausen, and so on. Its ridiculous.

I thought I read quote from him where he specifically said that he did not promote AU over UT in that. Just told the kid that TT was a good guy. Nothing wrong there IMO.

Latest contrary facts welcomed by me too.

It was wrong that he talked to the kid to begin with, IMO. GJ was still enrolled at UT, still on scholarship at UT, and should have kept out of the whole mess. TT could have had any number of his former players talk him up, but there was a reason he picked one who was still enrolled at a university recruiting the same player. If nothing else, GJ should have seen it as a conflict of interest and politely declined to speak to the kid. If Jones didn't see TT's actions for what they were, then he is very naive.

If "fans" are just gonna bad mouth former players then they just need to stay offline really.

FYP. These guys gave their all for UT and were put in poor situations and weren't coached properly thanks to Phil. For all they've been through we should be more supportive.

I don't hate the kid, but I think he was foolish to let TT use him as a recruiting tool.

I know the whole Trooper Taylor deal soured most Vol fans towards him, but I think he has the ability and talent to play in the NFL. His last few years in the program were anything but stable... And other than Bray slingin Moore most of them deep balls last season it could have easily been Jones. I dont see much of a differerence between the 2.. JMO. That being said, I wanna see all Vols succeed in the league..

GJ made a poor choice. Maybe he doesn't see it that way, but I do. He allowed himself to be used by TT IMHO. "Fans" are entitled to their opinions. Many people supported GJ through injuries and off the field indescretions. It's not without reason that some Vol fans feel betrayed by his actions. I'm chalking it up to a young man putting too much trust in someone who didn't deserve it. I wish Eric Berry could meet TT across the middle. I'd love to see TT get snot bubbled.

I bet a majority of Vol fans would welcome TT back with open arms...

Well, lol... Aint gonna argue with Mark Twain... But when Trooper left, I didnt like it. People forget what he did for our program, during the decline of our program. the players loved TT.

Unless you got all Murdoch and hacked G Jones phone to listen to the coversation then you dont really know what was said. Having gone thru the recruiting process himself Jones knew what the kid was going thru and just had an honest conversation with him. Nothing wrong with that.

Talked to him at the request of coach from an opposing team. If that doesn't set off alarm bells, it should. I think Jones made a mistake. I think TT abused the trust of a former player. At least I hope that's the case and that GJ didn't realize what he was getting into. Conversation should not have happenned.

Not with his ties to suspected AU recruiting violations. Too much smoke for there not to be at least a few sparks. I'll admit to liking TT when he was here, but if his actions nowadays are indicative of his actions while here, then I was wrong. A part of me wonders if being passed over by UT changed his character? I never knew him personally so I don't know, but maybe what happenned changed his mindset to doing whatever it takes to succeed, principles be damned.
