I love how the Fulmerites think of Johnny as a bitter old man full of hate, but Fulmer is somehow justified in this way of thinking.
I could not agree more. I think ther major differance is Majors was mostly mad at Fulmer. Fulmer seems to be upset with a lot of people around the university. IMO thats why he wanted that office to try and flex his muscle and show everyone he still had some power.
Didn't those that still showed up boo Phil and the gang?
I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I wonder what this message board would have been like (had it been invented) with the Fulmer-Majors situation.

The main reason Majors wasn't liked at the end is that under Majors bama owned UT.
During Majors tenure UT was a horrible 4-12 against "Bama" and cemented our utter distaste for himself and the Tide.
Fulmer on the other hand turned the tables and went 11-4 against "Bama". The only other UT coach to have as good record against the Tide was General Neyland at 12-5.
Say what you may about Fulmer but he owned our most hated rival "Bama" while he was at the helm.
It would be interesting to check the record of Bama when Majors was head coach and their record when Fulmer was coach.
I don't know for sure, but I would be $100 Bama had a better overall record when Majors was coach
i believe bama wheeled off about 9 straight against majors. fulmer's record against bama is 10x better that majors'.
