With all the talk about next years schedules being released. I thought it would be a good idea to talk about 5 home and home series you would and wouldn't like to see.

Would like to see.

1. Clemson.... I've always loved their home stadium at night. That battle of the Orange could be a cool series. Could help recruiting in S.C.

2. Michigan State. Once again I love their stadium. Could be a couple defensive gems.

3. Texas... For obvious reasons. We are the real UT.

4. Washington.. Seems we play someone from the PAC 12 quite a bit. I think this could be interesting. With all the harping about the Vol Navy. Be nice to shut them up.

5. West Virginia... The matchup in Charlotte will be nice. But I think this deserves a home and home.

Wouldn't like to see.

1. T.C.U. Not scared of no one. But damn them boys can put up points.

2. East Carolina.. Really nice home field advantage. But this could be a devastating loss. They should be in one of the BIG 5 power conferences.

3. Boise State... I just hate that blue field.

4. Rutgers... They have a nice stadium. But they are a dangerous team at home. Would be an interesting matchup. But could be a bad black eye if we lost.

5. Maryland... I couldn't stand 4 quarters of whatever God awful uniforms configuration they come up with.

Tennessee would never play at East Carolina anyways. They might come to Neyland, but it's to small a school at too small a stadium; it'd never be a home and home.

I'd also rather not end up in West Virginia. And (I'm just addressing this point itself, not the overall idea of playing them) I don't see how playing in Clemson would provide too much more of a boost considering how often we already play in South Carolina.

1. UCLA= This has been a great matchup in the past and I would like to see it renewed at some point in the future.

2. North Carolina= This would be good for recruiting in North Carolina.

3. Penn State = Beaver Stadium and their tradition.

4. Boise State = Would be cool to see UT on that blue turf.

5. Kansas State = Be good for recruiting in Kansas.

I am of the Bruce Pearl scheduling theory..... Play anyone at anytime.

I'm actually tired of watching us tack on another loss outside of SEC play while we're trying to rebuild.
No championship rings for having the hardest schedule.
Until we are back to playing top 5 football with top 5 talent, I'd like to see low level non conference teams coming to Neyland so we can work on getting better, resting starters, and building depth.

You mean like that cakewalk last Sat against UTC where our O-line gave up 5 sacks?

Bruce Pearl's theory works because in bball you play roughly 30 games and no one is expected to go undefeated or hardly even 1 loss. Plus you have a 64 team tournament to play into the Championship. Fball is 4 teams brother, there will be some really good 1 loss teams left out quite possibly this year. Look at Bummers OOC schedule, it is never rated to high. They just plop those 4 wins on their resume and rock on from there. We do not need Oklahoma right now. Heck when we get where we are going in a couple of years we will be playing the best teams from accross the country in the FBS Championship playoffs anyways.

Would love nothing more for a home and home with Boise State, seeing as how I live a mile from the stadium. Would also like Penn state or Michigan state.

Purdue
Slippery Rock
Dartmouth
UTEP
South Central Louisiana State University

Seriously:

Air Force or Colorado/Colorado State (short drive)
Baylor
Clemson
Georgia Tech (old SEC reunion)
Syracuse (opener...worked out pretty good last time...98).
Hawaii - Could seal the deal for a wavering recruit!
Honorable Mention: TX, Neb, ND, MI, Wash.

1. Texas - always nice to show the world who the real UT is
2. North Carolina - revenge for 2010
3. Notre Dame - we all hate them and it's been awhile
4. Georgia Tech
5. Ohio State

I like this list, except I would replace gt with vt.

How can you say East Carolina is to small a stadium. We play at Candy. Like 2000 people show up to their games.

A home-and-away series with the University of Colorado definitely should be pursued. It is winnable and, given the beauty of the Colorado Rockies in reasonable proximity to the campus, it would be a great road trip for our fan base.

I actually thought of this one myself. And I also thought of it in the not wanting to play. Could be another black eye type loss. Very winnable though.

I don't get the love for playing Miami or Notre Dame. To me Notre Dame needs to join a freaking conference.

And Miami. Well I just hate them. They were always thugs of the 80's when I was growing up.
