Is the scenario "Would they play for the other coach" or is it to determine how the program success would change with the other player?

Personally, I can see both players willing to play for the other coach as college freshmen. Geno is only salty at CP because she didn't play for him.

If in some altered universe where the Good Lord Himself decided to take a vacation, I think Candice playing for Coach Auriemma and Diana for Coach Summitt would be the difference between us having 11 Championships as oppose to 8 Championships. But as great of a player as Diana is, I wouldn't trade Candice, she just so iconic.

I largely agree with your first (satirical) premise. DT would have been a beloved LV legend. However, I think there would have still been a surprising number of detractors for someone who would have probably brought home championships.

Taurasi is a uniquely polarizing figure.

I am not sure Candace would necessarily be vilified by Tennessee fans in the manner DT has been. A lot of great Uconn players have not sparked the same antimony as Taurasi, consider Sue Bird, Swin Cash. Breanna Sterwart, Tina Charles, Katie Lou Samuelson, even Maya Moore (some % people have hard feelings about supposed recruiting improprieties but I have not seen much dislike directed toward her as a player or person).

If Candace dunked at TBA wearing a UConn jersey...which she then popped while running down the other way? Our discussion about her would be like testimony from "The Salem Witch Trials".

I know we'd like to think differently, but can you imagine if Paige Bueckers got behind the wheel blackout drunk, drove into a building, and the cops needed to break the window to get her to respond? The thread here would be 10 pages long and talking more about her poor character than being forgiving for a youthful indiscretion. And that's the truth.

We all view the players through the lenses we do strictly because of which team we are fans of.

This thread is just an indication that most fans all have the same feeling about ”their” team and players. Fans usually say how proud of “their” team they are. How much respect they have for the players. How mentally tough they are, how proud of them they are, etc., etc..

Yes, I would, not sure about anyone else, but any player who can beat Candace Parker, all around, I would say that about them, despite them not being on Tennessee. But, Candace Parker was, so there’s that!

Parker was the blueprint for all of the tall players that came after her that were equally effective inside and out. But none have shown her handle or court vision. She's basically what LeBron James would have been if he was 7 ft tall.

I truly think that if Candace stayed for her 4th eligible year, because she was injured her freshman year, she would’ve won a 3 peat. I have often wondered what would’ve happened if she had stayed. I know the year she left, Pat had a team full of freshman, and that was the first year we lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Ever since Parker left, we haven’t made it back, so it does make you wonder what if she had of stayed.

I don't think so. I think that was the Maya Moore-Tina Charles UConn team that won. They were too good, and Tennessee was really hurting at PG. But if Parker stayed, they certainly wouldn't have lost in the first round of the NCAAT and would have likely still been a top 15 team.

Agreed. I remember Stanford being really good that year as well. I do think we would have won the SEC though. A paint duo of Glory and Candace would've been crazy athletic. Add in sharp shooters Bjorklund and Strick.

I also think CP3 would've had a much better chance of winning a ship the year that she redshirted, which is the year we lost to Mich St in the FF.
