My HS phone directory (do they even have those anymore?) from 40 years ago had this guy in it. Him and Richard Head.

Punch bug, I Spy, and singing hymnals. And being the youngeest of 3 siblings I became a pro at sleeping straight up in the mibble of the back seat in the '76 LTD. Didn't have to worry bout seat belts either. If there was contact, you'd touch down somewhere in the front seat and never make it to the windshield. And no stopping for fast food. Meals, sammiches and drinks were in the cooler. Never had a road trip w/o ham sammiches and tater salad on standby. And walkie talkies if we were traveling with our friends. Our dads were bad about taking short cuts, but never knew where they were going. Prob why I can navigate to and around most places instictively. AS long as wfiey ain't in the car.

My grandparents Chrysler New Yorker. had a 2000 cubic inch engine with room to spare and hauled the 36 foot travel trailer all over the south. Pretty sure the car alone was near 24 foot. As a teen I could layout flat out both direction in the trunk. always wondered if Gramps was mafia or something. That car was solid white. all the luxury chrome, and white leather interior.

2000 ci engine is about right on those things. They may have actually been the longest mass production car ever built.

Your description was my childhood as well. You left out the part about stopping by the side of the road to use the bathroom... 😎
