My elementary school principal said, "My girls are going to dress like girls." So, shorts, and pants were forbidden. She'd police the playground to make sure that no girl was showing her butt. It drove her nuts when they came out with skorts (we called them "culottes.") That's when I learned how to properly kick a kickball.
