In the newest scout article Troop told his new receivers that they could "outrun a spotted ape". When one of them commented they had never seen a spotted ape, TT said, "that is how fast they are. They have never been caught on film".

It is good to see the coaches laying high praise on these guys so early.

I agree that it's great to hear that our young receivers are lightning fast. However, it would make me feel a lot better about them if I saw a single article that also talked about them having great hands. I have yet to see a single reference to any of them having great hands.

That is a great quote, though.

Trooper is an awesome coach, anyone think that if Fulmer got fired that Troop would get the job, and if so how would he do?

If we have a secret weapon on the coaching staff its TT. He has such a finger on the pulse of the athletes and apparently speaks their language in areas to challenge them to perform at their 100%. I swear he could coach the o-line and have em blowing defenses off the ball.

I remember a WR that was fast too, but couldn't catch a cold. Let's hope none of our new speedburners are afflicted with Leonard Scott-itis.

He could have been AWESOME. He left after his Soph. year did he not? I remember watching him in HS and he was and still is the greatest Virginia HS football player besides Mike Vick.

Patience, grasshopper....
UT’s receivers had a handful of drops during the periods open to the media.
“It’s going to happen anytime you’ve got some young guys in there trying to get their timing down,” receivers coach Trooper Taylor. “Wasn’t disappointed about the dropped balls at all. That wasn’t the problem. Problem to me was making big plays.
“I want to see somebody go over the top and make some special catches.”
Taylor held his receivers after practice for extra drills and a “pep” talk.
