In the offseason, many of us, myself included wanted Carnell Tate to upgrade our wide receiver room.

Now, I'm not debating he would be an upgrade for our town overall but

Would you rather have Chris Brazzell or Carnell Tate at this point? Currently, Brazzell is the number three receiver for reception yards and is tied for touchdown receptions. Oh, and he already played against a stellar defense.

Edit: I just realized that one of the receivers that is ahead of him in yardage played last night so for teams who have played the same amount of games, he's second in receiving yards and tied for most touchdowns.

I don't believe any WR can come in and exceed the 1st year in this offense. Everybody has taken a jump in their second year. CBII is showing that this year. He has come out and said so himself how much he is more comfortable with the system. Mathews and Staley are also balling out in their second year, it is not all JA. So far CBII has been a complete WR. He has run routes well, shown speed, and has shown strength in 50/50 balls.

Cedric Tillman and Velus Jones succeeded in year 1. Bru McCoy had his best year in year 1.

Indeed. Milton and Nico are what held the receivers back, not so much the receivers themselves. Just weren't accurate enough to push the ball downfield consistently like Hendon was/Aguilar is, and if you're going to pick between leaning on a passing game with QBs as inconsistent as Milton and Nico could be or a run game that consistently gashes people, you're going to quickly choose relying on the run instead.

Nico overthrew a lot but I he WRs also dropped a ton of balls to be fair

We’re dropping a few, a lot are drops by Bishop and Lewis though. It’s overall a lot better this year though
Staley and especially Matthews have had quite a few drops too. We aren’t really any better in the drops department but because the QB is actually competent, the passing game is doing much better overall. Sort of like how you could give Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt all the excuses in the world, but when a competent head coach came in, the team immediately improved despite the fact Heupel had some of the same issues to deal with that those guys had to deal with.

I would like to see Mathews get more of these jump balls. He should be mossing people to be blunt.

Too short to do that. Kinda reminds me of Gerald Jones. Athletic, can make plays, just not great or special at any one thing. Brazzell is the guy who can Moss people with his rangy frame.

He’s very athletic and can jump very well. He’s capable of the jump balls imo. Brazzell is no doubt our best jump ball guy though, no argument there. Brazzell is a just a good overall WR. Can do a bit of everything
