If the criteria is NFL success, I’ll go with:
Emmitt Smith
Jack Youngblood

If it’s college success, I’ll go with:
Tim Tebow
Wilbur Marshall

Not saying these duos top others, just giving a UF perspective. I personally think Manning/White are pretty tough to beat from an NFL success standpoint.
I didn't like playing Tebow, and not taking anything away from his greatness...just my opinion, but I didn't fear him as much as Wuerffel...he was unconscious...seems like he could be getting tackled and throw the ball 50 yards across the field into a window of about 12 inches with UT DB's all over the WR.

My first thread, so I hope it goes well.

Which University has the best all-time combination/duo of Offensive and Defensive players in history?

Examples:
UT Offense: Peyton Manning
UT Defense: Reggie White

Illinois Offense: Red Grange
Illinois Defense: Dick Butkis

Should be interesting. GO!

What do you mean by "best player". Like for the schools in question, or extrapolating that greatness out to a pro career.

Nebraska
Mike Rozier/Tommie Frazier
Ndamukong Suh

I’m still going with Peyton and Reggie though, you know that whole biased thing...
GBO!!

The greats are always gonna be the greatest to a university and to the fans...That being said I think you must go for there whole careers...College and Pro ! #1.....I don’t think there’s a greater ambassador to the sport than Peyton Manning has been...That should be the offensive player....#2...Between Doug Atkins and Reggie White’s careers...This gives Tennessee TWO All - Time Century’s Pro defensive players to ever play there position and what a career they both had !!! There’s my two cents...VFL !

Kinda fun, I don't know much about the Vols and Peyton Manning would be an obvious choice along with Reggie White, but I did like that linebacker you had on the national championship team (had to look him up) Al Wilson. I remember him bringing much pain in the NFL before he got hurt. But, I'm gonna go with these as my Tennessee choices:

Offensive: Jamal Lewis
Defensive: Eric Berry

I've always been fond of running backs and nasty secondary players.
