Fumbles Not the Whole Story for Arian Foster.

I really wish people would quit banging on Foster. It's not like we shouldn't have been able to overcome his fumble.

His fumble is not what lost that game.

There were a million other mistakes, that's for sure.

And, it wasn't Lincoln's missed FG either.

He wasn't on the field after we went ahead in regulation and just had to keep them from scoring a td with less than 2 minutes left.

:vava: Uh . . . I wasn't actually talking about you, just making a general observation.

Mod on Mod crime is a terrible thing.

That is a really good article, giving a very human side to the situation. I agree that one play never really wins or loses a game (be it Foster or Lincoln or anybody else). Football is a team sport, after all. However, not scoring a touchdown on that particular drive was undeniably a very significant turning point in the game. If a player is willing to take credit for big plays, they also have to take responsibility for mistakes at crucial points in the game.

I don't know -- the fumbles are untimely, but to say he has a fumbling problem seems to be inaccurate. I might let some people say he isn't "clutch" or something along those lines, though I'd personally still disagree with it.

I also might argue he is a running back of unfortunate timing. By that I mean he is dealing with a rather volatile and impatient fan base. Vol fans have high expectations and those have simply not been met over the past few years. Any poor plays are going to be highlighted more under a disappointed fan base.

The bottom line is: he works his butt off, he's a strong running back, and he's a great senior leader. He's invaluable to our team in many ways.

People that say that Fosters fumble didn't cost us the game are living in an imaginary world. If we score on that drive its 21-7 and with UCLA's offense they would have not come back. I think Foster is a great back but unfortunately he has cost us several games with untimely fumbles. Arian needs to realize that he cant carry the ball like a loaf of bread and that is especially true in the red zone.

I agree w/ this: Foster does not have a fumbling problem, just a fumbling problem when the pressure is on. My Grandfather said this: Since Foster can't handle the ball in clutch situations, Hardesty should touch the ball inside the redzone and score all the td's, let's see if Foster gets the message

I'm guilty of piling on Foster and Ineed apologize to him (as if he'd care about me). I lose sight of Arian being a very young man in a highly pressurized situation and I know that mistakes happen. Foster has led us to victories on many occasions and like every human being he makes mistakes. This article reminded me of my selfish feelings and I will promise to be a better fan. After all, most of us are simply that, Fans. Who are we, those of us sitting in the stands, to judge.

Forgive me for being a negative Nancy. GO VOLS.

The fumble was a huge play. And it was magnified even more bc of our lack of offense.

The fumble didn't blow the game.We lost the momentum after that fumble. Everything went downhill from that point. The fumble was a key factor in contributing to us losing that game. Had we scored the ball game would have been over.

His fumbling, and not the all-time rushing record, will be Arian Foster's legacy. I don't care what the media tries to tell me.

We should've been ahead by so much that we fumble on purpose just so we can all have a good laugh when UCLA tries to score on us.

Wow, excuses haven't seen that from Tennessee before. I guess it's the media's fault now. I guess absolutley no body is accountable for anything. Right?

That article does nothing but hurt Foster, in my eyes.
