Were we really 17pt dogs for this game? I know it was at the swamp, but wasn't our only loss at that point to UGA? That line seems a little high. I didn't really follow point spreads then like I do now. Did they have to go off the original line that was set in September for that game? It's just not a common thing to see a line like that for a premier SEC matchup like UT/UF(used to be)

Florida had beat the sh** out of virtually everyone they had played. We had won as many games, but lots of them were close ones.

Florida was #2 and we were #5 going into the game

There are some big wins, under Fulmer, in UT history.

You can find four in 1998 alone that merit consideration. The Fiesta Bowl is an obvious selection.

But you have to go back to 2003 to find the most recent one. I ruled out LSU in 2005. Nothing came of that win.

Fulmer's last "big win" was in 2003. That about sums it up.

Go Vols.

Don't take this post the wrong way but if I recall correctly, in the 96 Bama game, we trailed and played terrible most of the game and made a late score to take the lead for good. I think you are speaking of the 95 game. While I agree that the 96 Bama was a great win against an undefeated, top 10 Bama team, it definitely wasn't a destroying. I remember us having 1 loss(Fla game) and them being undefeated and we were still ranked higher than they were. I think we were #5 and they were probably # 7 or 8. Man, have those days dissappeared.

Anyway, my top 5 are:

1. 98 Fiesta Bowl (National Championship Game)

2. 95 Bama game (1st win against Bama in like 9 years not counting the forfeit by Bama of the tie in 93)

3. 98 Florida game (First win over the Gators since 1992)

4. 98 Arky game (Most excited I have ever been in a UT game)

5. 97 Citrus Bowl (I think I got the year right. I believe the season was 96 and the bowl game 97. We beat a highly touted Ohio St. team and Heisman winner Eddie George in the rain. Had Fla not got us that year,we would have been playing for it all)

Honorable mentions:

97 SEC Champ Game (Great display of tenaciousness in overcoming several turnovers and containing Damien Craig)

98 SEC Champ Game (Great day of college football with two big upsets of other undefeated teams. After this game I first realized that we were headed to Tempe)

2001 Fla Game (Passions were still high from 9/11 and Stephens and the offense ran wild over the Gators in "The Swamp". Fulmers pre and post game speeches were a couple of his best.)

2001 Miami Game (Vols broke Miami's home game winning streak in one of Casey Clausen's signature road victories)

2001 Citrus Bowl (Although we should have been playing Miami for it all, it was a nice display of power over Michigan)

1992 Fla Game (Vols were underdogs going in but winners in the rain going out)

2004 Fla Game (Eric Ainge's best win to date(with some big help from Schaffer). He made some big throws on the last couple of drives that put us into position for Wilhoit's redemption kick.Only one other time have my emotions went from so low to so high in just seconds)

2004,2006,2007 Ga Games (All three were games we were't supposed to win and the Vols showed their pride in getting up for and winning these games)

2006 Cal Game (I stil say that this was the loudest and rowdiest I have ever seen Neyland stadium. The loudest I've ever heard it when the Vols ran through the T)

2005 LSU Game (Probably one of the best and most improbable comebacks in UT history. Rick Clausen slinging the ball directy into the LSU student section immediately after the overtime winning TD was priceless. I think he said something in the post game interview like " They didn't think I was good enough to play here but i showed them tonight who was good enough to beat them")
