Fulmer's Sideline Demeanor Today/Phil's Fire (merged)

I'm a new member but I been reading post for a couple years and my opinion of Fulmer is he's probably a great guy, really cares about the University, and I also believe he won alot of games in the 90's because TN had more talent than most of the SEC. It drives me insane to see him clap on the sidelines when something bad happens, I don't know if I've ever seen him grab players by the jersey and get in their face like he did yesterday. At least now, I feel like he is trying to hold players accountable. I was ready to give up on this season but if he coaches with that kind of attitude and stops clapping his freaking hands, I'll try to hang in there and see what happens.

Not so fast. . .Georgia is hurt and underachieving. Auburn is in a scoring drought. Florida, while undefeated, can be run against with a dedicated effort. LSU doesn't matter (until we meet them in the championship game!) Alabama is certainly not hitting on all cylinders. South Carolina looks awesome in spurts. . .just can't be consistent. I think the Vols can be a major force in the SEC. . .They just have to refuse to lose this weekend!!

Go Vols! Crush the Gators!

I think he was just angry about how the last series had ended. They interviewed him about 30 seconds after that. I doubt UF, UCLA or BYU were on his mind.
Looked like to me, he was someone trying too keep his job. Its been a long time that I can remember Phil Fulmer be so animated on the sideline. He was in their messkit all afternoon:eek:k:. To me that is coaching, pure and simple.

Are you serious? "The Vols can be a force"?? Surely you jest or you have not seen the last two games.

Coach Fulmer almost reminded me of my old ball coaches except he didn't kick anyone in the butt or slap them upside their helmets, or shake the heads with their facemasks.

I liked his demeanor though.

Did you say, you were "ready to give up on this season". :banghead2: Good lord man, before Saturday we had only had one game and you were ready to give up on the entire season. One game does not a season make. I am damned glad I didn't ever have you for a teammate. However, I am happy that you are willing "to hang in there". It is always good to have fair weather fans. I suppose every team needs the fans who only support them when they are winning. How refreshing. It helps to keep the playing surface level.

I'm not a Fulmer basher but, you can't wait till Saturday afternoon to start coaching. It's to late then. He needs to be coaching his staff and his players with that same intensity the other 6 days of the week.

How do you know he is not coaching them like that during the week?...Why do you think he is waiting?...I as well think he is really tired of the competence of some of these kids but as said before, who is at fault for playing a kid that has dropped 4 wide open passes that were not tough catches at all...That is all on him...I know you do not pull the kid as it kills his confidence but you can not let what happened on Saturday happen...Warren is a much better reciever but Stocker is bigger and a better blocker...We ran the ball well...Passing is a problem so then go to Warren...Thanks.

he looked like holtz when he coached ND! I like it.
That is what we need on the sideline not this clapping and that smirk he gives.

I would line up G. Jones at QB with Foster, Hardesty and Creer in the backfield. Run the option with the receiver's we have and the tailbacks would would be unstoppable.

and to look at Tennessee offense and Florida offense up to now.

Tennessee:Crompton 429 yards 2 td, Foster 25 carries 196 yards, Hardesty 19 carries 94 yards 3 tds, Creer 8 carries 93 yards 2td, Taylor 12 cathes 169 yards, Jones 7 catches 79 yards 2 td. offense 221.5 rush, 235.5 pass

Florida:Tebow 393 yards 3 td, tebow 22 carries 92 yards, Demps 5 carries 75 yards 1 td, Murphy 6 catches 128 yards 2 td, hernandez 5 catches 58 yards 1 td, offense 172 rush, 203.5 pass

GO VOLS

That looks good on the surface but Tebow hasn't thrown 3 picks and about 5 other passes that could have been intercepted

How come every positive post gets responded to by a negative post? It makes me sick being from TN right now. Not because our team is struggling but because of our fan base. Either support the Vols or GTFO.

So you think because we criticize the lack of production of our team we are less than enthusiastic fans? That is complete BS! We are critical because we care so much.

This is UT we are not some mediocre football school and we as fans should be critical when we are slipping into mediocrity as we seem to have been doing recently.

Grow a thick skin because we tell it like it is around here.

Ok, I understand that we refuse to be mediocre. But hell man 98 % of the post are negative. My point is if someone is positive, they do not need to be made to look like an idiot.

I bet everyone here can agree on that one.

What does support the Vols mean?

Complacency with 8-4 seasons is support? Bubbly attitudes about embarrassing losses is support? Positive posts are support?

Just curious as to exactly what you think support might be?

You are missing the point. The point is when people are being positive about the Vols, why in the world do they get made to look like a fool by negative posters. I never wanted or acted like I was bubbly about bad losses, but by god I am not going to dis my team. It is so easy in this society to be a follower. People are down on the Vols , so it makes it easy to be like everyone else and join in on the negativity fest. So Saturday if we are winning or losing, I realize that there is nothing I can do about it except cheer and hope we are successful. Go Vols!
