interesting data. thanks for posting it.

another stat that i find interesting is that fulmer, cut, and chavis have a record of 54-10 overall (84%). UF is best in the SEC (and probably the NCAA) at 86%.

Great...then don't read this one! I'm sure you think your getting a feather in your hat for posting your snide remark...so if you feel better by doing so, then go for it.

Easy there Hadji, it was a joke. The reason that thread exists is so the whole front page of the board isn't covered with CPF threads. Nothing against you but the info has been beaten info the ground.

Reminds me of the kind of stuff said about Majors in his last few years -- about how he was able to pad his victories in November. Not saying that's good or bad -- just an observation.

I miss the good ole days of the Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vandy "gauntlet" at the end of the season.

I miss the good ole days of Holtz, Dubose, Goff, Donnan, Scott, DiNardo even more.

Well said...the landscape has changed a lot since those days. You have a ton of top coaches in the league now and nobody can rest on their laurels. In PF's defense, he did manage to stick with it and catch up with UF in the latter Nineties. He could have thrown in the towel when Spurrier was running over the conference but he didn't. A bunch of teams folded and he stuck with it. I have a lot of respect for him because of it.

Meanwhile, the landscape has changed again and he needs to change his approach with recruiting and game planning because if you think Spurrier's teams were fast, this new generation of LSU and UF teams are faster.

My thinking is that it has really gone downhill the last 4 years inparticular. We at least were competing for the SEC title in the early 2000's. Dunno if Fulmer's just stubborn or what. He still gets an amazing amount of talent here, but something gets off the track along the line.

Like I said, it's sort of football purgatory...just enough success to keep it from being a fiasco. Not terrible, just not very good.

However, in the last 5 complete seasons, CPF is averaging 4.2 losses per year. More or less, that's fringe top 25 football.

How long should that be allowed to continue is the question.

people like this is why tennessee football will never again achieve anything. after saturday it's back to the drawing board for next season because this season will be over.

people like me? Just cause I don't want to see the board cluttered with Fulmer threads? You have truly lost it.

I'm sure I'll get another "imaginative" PM from you for that comment too. I hope it's over 2 words this time.

Fulmer does seem slow to adapt to new coaches.

He started out 0-5 against Spurrier, since then he's 3-3
He started out 0-3 against Richt, since then he's 2-1
He started out 0-1 against Saban, since then he's 1-1
He's started out 0-2 against Meyer, let's all (Fulmerites and Bashers) hope this is the year he figures him out.

I don't think we're in decline, I think a lot of other programs have done a lot of catching up. It's much the same as Pat Summitt, the Lady Vols are not as dominate as they once were because other programs have gotten a lot better. The biggest difference is, Summitt was so much ahead of the pack, it will take longer for more teams to catch up. Before 1990 the gators never even won a conf. title.

Tennessee Rankings

stats...rankings. There is enough data here to support either side of the Fulmer debate. Bottomline is the SEC is full of great teams. Can't always be the top dog.
