Fulmer's Quotes

Will it make you feel better to be 6-6 every year than to win 9+ games & lose in the SEC title game?

oh, we stumbled ass backward into that final SEC title game and that was about to become the status quo? This little bit of genius fits perfectly with your half baked stats routine. Keep 'em coming.

hey if you can't beat em hope they lose twice

You summed it up exactly well. And because we have an AD with the same IQ level, we now have NCAA inquiry into all 3 sports, or basketball program will be back on the rocks with recruiting/NCAA issues & our football program is back to Majors' early-year awfulness. You're about to find out what bad really looks like, and it ain't losing in the SEC title game, kiddo.

So, are you saying we should have kept Fulmer? Call me dumb ,but I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at.

not enough for this one. He also said JC was pretty much worthless and we saw that wasn't true

because, as has been stated many times before, he couldn't understand the plays when they asked him.

I think Cut pretty well nailed it. I'm glad he didn't leave as the most reviled Vol in history, and I'm happy he got drafted and had a shot. But sorry, a fifth year senior doing, basically, average over his last five games only proves Cut right, IMHO.

But he understands them more compliacted offense at Auburn?

Hey, you're the genius that said we were in or near the top ten every year. You seem to have an extremely selective memory. Truth is, if your ignorance will allow you to see it, is that we finish out of the top 25 more often than we finished in the top ten.

During Fulmer's tenure?
Seasons Finished in the Top-10: 6
Seasons Finished Unranked: 3

the fact BJ didn't get invited to join Cut tells me everything and him being at UTC adds to it.

AU is not asking him to do anything special except not lose

A lot more fun to just lose to all of them, right?

uh...we were losing all of them. There are exactly two teams in the East that have to be dealt with in any given season. One of those was treating Fulmer like a stepchild and the other had for the 5 years prior. That doesn't include AL hiring someone competent who Fulmer had no prayer of ever beating again.

I understood he was invited but wanted to play immediately.

And he hasn't lost.

In Fulmer's last 6 "disappointing" seasons, it was far more likely to be 9-4 a season until he broke Neyland's record.

only if you ignore the downward trend in his record. Your stats are only good for people who stopped watching UT play in 01

yes. That was becoming readily apparent. This current crop of juniors and seniors was going to absolutely obliterate the SEC. Last year's class actually got better after he was finally canned.

So now we get to compete for "worst team of the SEC" trophy instead. Congratulations!

If you honestly believe we were better off keeping Fulmer than moving on until we found a better fit (hopefully Dooley) then you are just too narrowminded to argue with.

01 team didn't have enough talent to compete with LSU, just like the 02, 03 and 04 versions couldn't play with UGA. It was a talent issue.

It used to be the case there were "exactly two teams in the East" that "have to be dealt with." Now, with our new Fulmer-less Tennessee team, it's more like "exactly four teams" that "have to be dealt with" as we sink into oblivion. You fired a guy that won 9+ games a year more often than he had any other kind of season because he didn't win 11+ games a year just so we could go to a program that now prays for 7+ wins a year. Wow -- ain't you smart!
