Fulmer's Contract Buyout (merged)

You are right about Hamilton contradicting himself. As I said, I am not a big fan of his, I just don't think this contract was his doing.

I have never heard anything other than Thorton and Haslam are behind Fulmer 100 percent. I'd certainly be interested in finding out otherwise. It would give me more hope that a change would be made. Although I do believe that Fulmer is done, I just thought a change would have to be made against Haslam and Thortons insistence otherwise.

My best guess is Fulmer will negotiate so that he takes home less money but receives a job in the athletic department so that he can stay involved with the program. UT means everything to Phil so he says, so he will want to go out peacefully is my best guess.

We'd have to run the table and have an impressive bowl win. It wouldn't be great, but it would be a remarkable turnaround.
I think if we split with Bama/Georgia and win the rest there's no doubt Fulmer and his boys will still be around.

That would be 8-4, right?

$10 million in buyout money, for a minor bowl bid last year? Great move, Mike Hamilton.

This has been blown out of proportion and is just another red herring by the Fulmer Nation. Fulmer's buyout is payable over 4 years, meaning $1.5 million per year. The Athletic department brings in around $80 million a year. Next year they start getting how much more $millions from ESPN? And that is not even touching on the fact that the buyout money may have already been pledged for all we know. Yes. It is big money but it's not like UTK is going to have to write a check for $6 million they day Fulmer gets his walking papers. If Fulmer takes another job his buyout will be pro-rated

As for the assistants, some of them will probably be retained. Others will get jobs elsewhere and their buyouts will be pro-rated. A couple will sit on thier rumps and sulk and the University will write them checks for a few hundred grand, 90% of which will be taken away by President Obama.

Well, this is the best news I have heard in a week, except for the Obama thing.

Just stay in the bottom 95% and you're golden. Can't wait to get my national health plan and annual earned income credits. Great days are ahead.

That would be awesome. Phil is the man and I think everybody is being too rough on him. He is doing fine and he got us to he SEC championship game last year.

Come on guys let's not fire him yet, let's give him a couple more years and you will see a big improvement. He can't loose the recruiting battle to Bama, Georiga, Florida, Mississippi and South Carolina again this year. We just didn't have enough scholarships to give out last year.

Go Vols!! Save Fulmer!!

Johnny Majors spoke out today....
“Frankly,” Majors said, “I think (defensive coordinator) John Chavis has saved (Fulmer’s) job for 10 years.”
