Fulmer's Comments after the game

Fantasy land is the UT campus without Fulmer as head coach next year. That is what you want, not me.

I tried to listen but had to turn it off. Just another Fulmer post loss speach...but he doesn't say anything interesting after a win either.

On another note, the man sounds worn out...

I believe that he isn't content at all with mediocrity. The game has taken a huge toll on his health because of stress. No one takes the losses harder than him.

Are you out of your mind? Didn't you hear, he been excerising and lost 30 lbs, says he's never felt better. :birgits_giggle:

...This team has no where to go but up...and Coach Fulmer has it pointed in the right direction...for an SEC East title next year.

1. Who was the coach who drove it down?

2. If it has no where to go but up, what does that say about the current regime?

3. What is the right direction; losing 4 games including another bad bowl loss?

4. There are no such things as SEC East titles. Those are divisional seedings, not titles -- and seedings are intermediate goals, not program goals.

Also, what is this delusional talk about the staff "squeezing 9 wins out of this season?" CPF always acts like the coaches are just magnificent when we manage to scrape together a winning season at a "rag-tag school" with the 2nd most players in the NFL.

I just keep wondering how many more years are we going to give Fulmer to turn this program around? It's the little changes like getting rid of Sanders, hiring Cutcliff, moving Trooper as another position coach, hiring Roper, etc. Are these changes intended to bide Fulmer more time as the head coach by diverting attention away from him? When do they hold him finally responsible? For the past several years we have been talking about "wait till next year". We keep waiting.......and waiting.......and waiting.....:whistling:

You do realize that "unstoppable" Ohio State managed a meager 14 points against Penn State's defense, right? The last 14 of a 28-6 win were defensive touchdowns in the last three or four minutes.

Akron scored 16 on them, so what's your point?

Precisely. Our head coach is perfectly content with mediocrity.

That is plain silly . . . but predictable.

obviously fulmer isn't content w/ mediocrity. but he just can't express his passion and love for UT like so many other coaches can for their program. Look at Pete Carroll at USC. Look at Bob Stoops at OU. Look at Gruden. They show their fire and their desire to win and it rubs off on their other coaches and players. I'm not calling for Trooper for head coach or even off. coord, but we do need more coaches w/ his passion. Fulmer just doesn't show that passion. He actually showed flashes of it this year, but still nothing like he should. He's just too bland anymore and his players don't respond to him because they aren't excited by him.

I think when he goes recruiting he evidently has that fire still in him. i can't imagine how the fulmer we see on the sidelines can go to just about any state he wants and recruit a top notch player to come play for him @ UT. He just has to be outspoken and more excited and more energized. if he's not going to be that guy, UT needs to go in another direction

Having been lucky enough to meet a lot of coaches, I have to say that as undynamic as he may seem, he's not nearly as bland by comparison as you might think.

i've met him and other coaches too and i agree with you on an individual level and maybe that's why he's so good at recruiting. but on the field it's different. He's just out there. we need to see more of him arguing at players like he did Heffney today and on the flip side he has to be there to congratulate and be pumped for scores and just general big plays. The Fulmer clap just doesn't do it anymore.

See . . . I don't necessarily agree with that either. I was in Athens for the Georgia game and I sat 15 rows up above our bench. I was frankly a little surprised by how animated he was throughout the game and how he was all over the sidelines. At one point during the second half I looked down there during a timeout and he was near the back of the bench and you could hear him going Knute Rockne on the Defensive Linemen.

makes me wonder because i was at the florida and bama games and had good views of him from my seats and i noticed he didn't do a whole lot of that. based on the ESPN views I got, he was all over the place jumping around and getting excited during the Cal game. At the KY game, I didn't have a good view of where Fulmer was from my seats so I can't comment on that one. But out of the games I noticed and you mentioned, interesting that Cal and UGA were by far are best overall performances of the year and he was animated. Wish he would be that way for 13 (possibly 14) games a season.

Anyone that wants Fulmer fired is STUPID we lost the game today because of turnovers...I guess Fulmer is the one carried the football and lost it and he is also the one that threw an INT and doesn't know how to hand off on a reverse....So yeah I guess we should fire him yall are dumb and need to leave the board

For me, I don't remember whether or not I have ever said fire Fulmer. But I did say that we better be ready, just in case. You don't want to experience what Bama is experiencing, do you?

I agree, the game was dull, but I am not fooling myself in my evaluation of Coach Fulmer. I see that there is no one better to coach this football team at this current time, and more time must be given to see how the Cutcliffe hire will work. I believe this offseason, Ainge will improve even more, and Trooper will be able to make the receivers even better (Meachem or not).

This team has no where to go but up, and Coach Fulmer has it pointed in the right direction for an SEC East title next year.
yeah, a running game will magically reappear and they will trounce the gators in gainesville, run over the bulldogs, tuscaloosa will be no problem either. whatever it is you are on...I will have what you are having.

What causes fumbles, bad tosses, etc? Who gets these players ready? Who taught you grammar?

I find these type of posts are best ignored. Of course, I'm referring to the post to which you responded, not your post.

Ditto. Might as well just record it and play it back after every game to save everyone time.:banghead2:

Seems like Phil has the "Oh well we lost" attitude. I guess I could have that attitude if I was making 2 million a year!
