Fulmer's Bowl Record 92-06

I try to have some prespective on this. Earlier in the season when we were putting up 30+...it wasnt boring at all. But after the Lsu game it wasnt that much fun. Plus the taste of the psu loss still lingers.

The Cal game was extremely entertaining. I expected an equally charged and energetic performance from the Vols since they had been working for so long to prepare for both games. I'm not really sure what the difference was.

I think maybe the team gets discouraged easily when things don't go there way at first. That's not good. Phil needs to keep them focused and motivated.

I watched it w/ two of my neighbors. one got scared of my anger I think he's only spoken to me like 4 times since.

HaHa. I try not to watch game with people I don't know well. My girlfriend thought I was nuts when we watched the 2005 Tennessee/Florida game together.

Now she calms me down and says "It's okay honey, they'll come back" or I'll just leave the room the TV's in and she'll come get me when things have changed.

Yeah, the Arkansas game was pretty bad. I was just hoping the Vols would show up and not get drilled......

Man, I go crazy during the Florida and Alabama games..... I especially cannot stand Meyer........

There are only a handful of coaches that could step in and do it and I seriously doubt that any of them would be interested in Tennessee at the moment, but you never know.
You would probably be surprised at how many people might want to come to NE Tennessee just based on the mountains/lakes alone.

Peyton is the reason Cutcliffe got a head coaching job, well at least the Manning family.

i dought it. he couldn't even win one with that great talent. he had to luck into. i guess we have stoener to thank for that. it is now the stoener curse:pepper:

fulmer didn't luck into anything w/ the national title. most bowl bound teams have one win they shouldn't have. any argument that fulmer has slipped or lost his touch may be and is acceptable, but it can not be denied that fulmer made a great run through the mid to late 90's. btw, as i recall, manning didn't just come UT because no one else wanted him. as OWB pointed fulmer merely set a bar for himself. and as was discussed in that thread, it's just a bar he can't reach anymore. donuts will do that to you.

He set the bar, then failed in epic fashion to even come close to clearing it again.
Must've been because of that Krispy Kreme contract he signed in '99. Anyway, speaking of how a coaching change (not starting a new controversey here) can make things different, the poor, poor pitiful Grizzlies got rid of Mike Fratello (who took them to a couple of winless playoff series, although their playoff appearances were few and far between) and voila the team is playing with enthusiasm and smiling while on the court and winning a few games. Could changing a coach make that much of a difference? But maybe that's just me (in my best Bret Favre voice)

It is a difficult bar. However, it would be interesting to find out the last National Champion to follow their title up by failing to win as much as a conference title for 8 seasons.

Great question.

why is it that when we play a more physical opponent, we get beat..speed is great but we need to get tough
