yep.. he should have disappeared for a while if he needed some time to cool off... if he's going to stay that visible, many Vol fans expect him to show support for the new staff... he won't do thatQuote:
Every interview with him I've read has been about the same -- he tries to take the high road, but ends up saying basically that he felt wronged because he thought he'd "earned a chance to fix things." Which was probably the case -- in 2005. He doesn't seem to realize that he had already used up his mulligan.

I have had to fire a lot of people and it is rare that I fire someone and they think they deserved it. Right or wrong that is human nature for most people.
The right decision was made by hammy and whether people like it or not Fulmer has handled this MUCH better than majors. The dolts who actually think Fulmer stabbed Majors can think all they want. As much as people were ready for Fulmer to be gone it was NOT CLOSE to how many wanted Majors gone.
Fulmer is gone, we have a great new staff and yet so many cant let it go. They ***** if he comes to the games and they ***** if he doesnt. I swear its like a jilted lover for many on this site.

Sure, but there's a difference between feeling like you were unfairly fired and denying the basic facts of what was going on. Fulmer denied that there was ever a problem with his program, denied that he needed to do anything differently, and now he's in denial about whether he deserved to be sacked. This is like an habitual drunk who's been missing work for years howling about how unfair it is when he finally gets fired one day for coming in only a couple of hours late.
For almost 20 years, he was the face of the team for which we all have a ridiculous, irrational devotion. He's been a lightning rod for passionate opinions for most of a decade. All of that doesn't just dry up and go away overnight. Once we've been through a season or two with the new guys and this really becomes Kiffin's team, then maybe Fulmer can fade into the past and we can all look forward together. But for now he's still the lens through which most Vol fans see the whole program. He cast a long shadow.[/QUOTE/]
Having a National Title sets the bar pretty high
Yes, Fulmer sat in Thunder's box on the East side along with his wife. I'm actually kind of surprised he's staying so close to the program at this point. If it were me I'd need a little distance if I'd just been fired.
Just curious...what are the typical qualifications for HOF coaches? Total wins, win pct, championships?
Criteria for coach nominees:
The nominee must exhibit demonstrated citizenship, "carrying the ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and his fellow man with love of his country."
The nominee must fit one of the following criteria:
- Be retired from coaching for at least three years
- Be at least 70 years old and retired
- Be at least 75 years old
- The nominee must have held a head coaching position at the collegiate level for at least ten years.
- The nominee must hold at least a .600 career record over the course of 100 games or more.
I heard he was dressed in all black, showed no emotion, and left at halftime. Not sure how reliable that is. You heard anything like that?
