Why do people feel obligated to assume off of one post from an outside source that our AD and last championship winning coach is overstepping his role?

The very coach you are suggesting we protect from meddling has publicly praised Fulmer's assistance.

Pruitt is a grown ass man if you haven't gathered from his press conferences. When he thought the very team he was coaching was the problem he had no problem publicly calling them out. I do not fear in the least he can't negotiate with Phil for the space he needs.

I think he hired what he considered the best option from the few who would be willing to come here at the time.

I don't care how involved Fulmer gets. I care only that Pruitt has control over the extent of that involvement.

"Scared" might be strong, concerned isn't. The white elephant that we'd all like to forget about is that outside of his connections to UT, albeit very, very strong ones, there's nothing to say Phil is AD material. Perhaps other programs were clambering to get him on board but I'm not aware of it.

Obviously, I hope he knocks it outta the park at every opportunity but I'm pretty sure that if it hadn't been for the coach search fiasco of last year Phil would probably be doing exactly what he was the year before and not turning down AD opportunities.

Yeah, I know, sacrilege. I hope like heck I'm underestimating him.

Its not Meddling when Pruitt is coming to him . And why shouldn't he let me guess you know more than either of these guys about their jobs and what they need.

If this is true then who in the hell was running the Eric Locke package this season? LOL

Fulmer used Cutcliffe as a crutch his entire career and has no business weighing in on a modern offense 10 years removed from the game.

Dave Clawson is the prime example of what Fulmers "input" did last time he worked with an offense.

Phil should scare all. He hired clawson and would not let him implement his spread offense. Freeze or Briles if hired might be throttled. Phil lost his job over that hire.

He didn't really the AD low balled him on OC Salary so that that was the level of OC they had in that range of hire. They squeezed him with the Goal to make the change after Cut's departure so they could get rid of Phillip....

Yes, a good coach that in most every case, took 2 seasons to get players to execute his system. We didn't even give him one season. He, like Shoop, has been successful at every other stop. Had we stuck with PF, we wouldn't be in this dumpster fire.

PF was one of the best OC's we've ever had, including Cut. Look it up. The year before PF became OC, the Vols ranked 76 out of 105 teams. His first year, they moved up to 24th. The next year, 11th. His last year as OC, they were 16th nationally, outscoring opponents by 151 pts. Cut built on the solid foundation PF built, not to mention Peyton Manning as QB and Fulmer's outstanding recruiting.
