Bobby is a better coach than fulmer
Fulmer will not coach in the SEC East again. He might get like a Mid-Major conference school, Big East, or ACC school, but he won't coach in the higher division schools. Fulmer inherited a lot here at UT when he came up, and the fact he left it in shambles speaks volumes of where he left here as a coach. Larry Coker won a NC and after doing crappy in the end with Miami, is now coaching the D-1 FCS University of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners that are scheduled to play their first down in 2010.

Hey guys, I was informed earlier this morning on the way to work by a local sports radio station that the rumor mill is in full blow with Fulmer on the mind. The rumor came out of Vanderbilt that they were trying to get negotiations up to sign Fulmer after this year if Bobby Johnson fails, Vanderbilt AD has reportedly said that he is tired of losing and Fulmer would be the ultimate move, very interesting I thought, this would be some crazy.
Of all the schools that have Ivy League standards, they are the only one that ever has half a chance at a winning season. They are located in one of the most populated places in America...Southern California, and if it weren't so, they'd have Vandy's luck as well.
They are able to take the left overs the other PAC-10 teams leave behind and still field a decent team. Even still...even with a former NFL QB as their HC, they still loiter at the bottom of their conference. I wouldn't call that "Doing well." Vandy is what Vandy is...an Ivy League School pretending to be an SEC caliber athletic entity. It's not, and I think it's time the SEC showed them the door. They suck in far more shared revenue than they generate. They are a leech, a parasite to this conference, and the statistics bear that out.
1) Vanderbilt went to a bowl. We didn't.
2) I suppose you're going to tell me that Baylor doesn't belong in the Big XII either? Or maybe that Northwestern doesn't belong in the Big Ten? You might think it sounds stupid what I just said, but that's your logic, and yes, it is very stupid.
3) As someone alluded to earlier, we tried to invite Florida State. They declined. Georgia Tech was a charter member of the SEC, but bowed out in 1964, was an independent for around 20 years, entered the ACC in 1981. Clemson is a charter member of the ACC, very doubtful they'd ever join us.
Little history lesson for you here. Vanderbilt can lay claim to 2 national championships(1906, 1911). Vanderbilt was one of the reasons that M.B. Banks, the UT coach from 1921-1925, went to Knoxville Central HS to coach ball there.
Beating Vanderbilt was one of the things that Bob Neyland was given as a goal. At one point, nobody reigned terror on the football fields in the south as much as the Vanderbilt Commodores did. They were the south's finest football team when they helped to found the conference on December of 1932.
I realize today that, well, they just plain suck for the most part. But it could be argued that without Vanderbilt's organizing efforts, the SEC would have never came to be.
Nobody at VU seriously wants Phillip for a hfc. Now if he wanted to coach OL, he might get a nibble. Having been around VU for a few decades now, I think I can say that they are happy with who they have.
I think Phillp could get a gig as hfc somewhere like UVA, Maryland, Indiana, Missouri, etc. I still think Miami would be his best option if Shannon slips up.
