Fulmer To Miss State...Impossible?

Fulmer would be wise to stay away from miss. state. His rep has already been dented by his last few years at UT, but he will still be held in high regard if he doesn't coach again. If he goes to Starkville and lays an egg--and that is highly probably--he'll just go through what he's been going through this year in ktown and why do it? He'd be better off going to a small school somewhere where there is a chance to win, less pressure and maybe even a chance to go out having fun. He will just lose at miss. state and have to resign under pressure again. Miss. state should go young.

I'm pretty sure that I've read that Fulmer gets his full buyout no matter what. This is not the case for the assistant coaches, for them, UT makes up the diff. if they take a pay cut (and I believe that applies to whatever job they take, even if it's out of the coaching profession).

Correct. CPF's buyout is not affected by subsequent employment. Contract is here.

if he want's to coach again he had better take any d-1 job offered ; I don't believe there will be much interest in him but I do wish him luck

doubt ND

although he wolud recruit like crazy

I agree, but I do think that's a situation he'd consider. I did see a post a week or so ago from a ND fan saying many of their fans wanted him though. (Fans mean nothing though when it comes to that stuff.)

Never will happen. Clemson would not want Fulmer. I know because I live amidst an ocean of Clemson fans. They want a fire breathing dragon that wins and not a mild mannered nice guy that claps after every bad play.

Lol I work with some Clemson friends and when I told them about the rumors of Clemson adding phillip to the list. They freaked out that's one of the things I never liked about fulmer how he claps even on bad plays. Damnit get in there and let them have it

Mississippi State is a low risk job: If you lose, then you'll just be doing what everyone else has done this side of Allyn McKeen (Another in a great line of Neyland men.). It wouldn't take away from anything Fulmer has done. Folks would recognize what he was up against.

They have low expectations: Get 'em to a bowl consistently...and you'll be treated like a god. That only takes 6 wins.

The job has a high-reward: If Fulmer can just win in Starkville, then he'll add to his rep in the same way Bill Dooley enhanced his by winning at Wake Forest late in his career.

It is like Cut at Duke. If he loses, then it will not be put on Cut. It'll be put on the near-hopeless situation at Duke. Same would work for Fulmer at Mississippi State.

Yeah, he's got a lot of nerve, clapping and all.

Seriously- I know a lot of people have piled on about that, but truly, in your heart of hearts, is that really important in the big scheme of things?

Anyone got clapping stats on Kiffen? I'm sure they track that, because it is so telling and all . . . .

Everyone forgets how he claps until the player gets to the sideline then he gets in their asses. But hey, forget reality, talk about the clapping.

It's possible, but I would think he would take a year off and collect his first $1.5 million installment.

It's a move that might make sense for him, but I would think he would take a year off and collect his first $1.5 million installment.

Its possible but I dont think he would go to another sec school. Of course then it might be changed from being croomed to being fulmered. :)
