Fulmer To Miss State...Impossible?

Seems likely they will offer it to him and if he was serious about wanting another coaching job, I doubt he would find a better one. Could be the best both could do.

What say you?

Seriously doubt it. But if I were Miss Tippi Tate, I'd contact CPF to see if he's interested. There's not a lot out there to pick from; and Miss Tate is probably smart enough to know she isn't gonna' land a Peterson, Kelly, or whomever.

Depends on the contract terms.

Are you saying that MSU might be asked to pay part of the buyout?

That seems unlikely since they aren't really taking him from us, we fired him or he resigned. Either way, he would already be relieved of his obligation to UT when MSU contacts him.

I just wondered if we could get out of paying him money if he took another job. If so, I'm all for him getting the highest paying job someone will give him.

No, I'm saying the specific terms of Fulmer's employment contract with UT would determine whether payments would be reduced if he gained employment elsewhere. My gut feeling is that nothing is going to affect the amount of the payout.

Why not, what does Moo State have to lose? Personally, if Bobby leaves Vandy then I wouldn't be surprised to see Fulmer end up there.

Since Sexton is his agent, I'd say he'll get the full payout

Nutt was Sexton's client, he took a $3MM payout from Arkansas and went to Ole Miss immediately

I thought it was pretty standard to pay the difference in the two salaries if the coach got a job somewhere else. If not, then Fulmer's agent pulled one over on Hamilton. That said I can't say that MSU would pay him nearly as much as we were, so we will probably be on the hook for most of the buyout, even if we get to subtract his new salary.

Depends on how PF's agent had it written up. Based on the dumb thing we did in giving him an extension and new contract in the first place tells me we are probably on the hook for the whole enchilada.

Then I hope Hammy gets a kickback.

I'm pretty sure that I've read that Fulmer gets his full buyout no matter what. This is not the case for the assistant coaches, for them, UT makes up the diff. if they take a pay cut (and I believe that applies to whatever job they take, even if it's out of the coaching profession).

Has Clemson even uttered they are interested in Phil?

Never will happen. Clemson would not want Fulmer. I know because I live amidst an ocean of Clemson fans. They want a fire breathing dragon that wins and not a mild mannered nice guy that claps after every bad play.

Fulmer would not show interest in Miss. State. He will only show interest in prime situations I believe.
