Fulmer subpoenaed

He had a couple bad years when they couldn’t figure out the QB position. Clawson was not the right hire in 08, and Fulmer bungled the QBs in 05. It doesn’t mean he was a bad coach.

If Fulmer wasn’t a good coach, you’ve never seen Tennessee have a good football coach, and you haven’t seen too many anywhere else either.
If he was a great coach he would have taken over the SEC after 2001 when Spurrier retired. Better coaches came along for other SEC schools.

Fulmer was pretty much done around the time we fired him.

His recruiting started slipping and his handling of the staff was pretty poor.

He was a good coach around the time when the SEC was at its lowest.

Once other schools starting hiring better coaches, he simply couldn’t keep up anymore.

Florida was also full of NFL talent and had one of the best coaches of all time.

Also, need I remind you, he did go undefeated to win a national championship. It isn’t like we are talking about someone who never got over the hump. He reached the promised land and beat Florida along the way to get there.
Need I remind you that Fulmer never had another legitimate offer to coach again after UT fired him? Even Jimbo Fisher and Les Miles landed lucrative deals after running FSU and LSU into the ground. I would put Fulmer in a category with these two, and NOT in the same category as Nick Saban or Steve Spurrier. Again, JMO.

Look at his winning percentage without Cut, especially his winning percentage against top 25 teams. It is pretty pathetic.
I had no idea it was that bad. 16–22 against teams that were ranked at the time of the game, and 12–25 against teams that finished the season ranked.

Jimbo Fisher and Les Miles were also good coaches. Saban and Spurrier just happen to be two top 10 coaches of all time.

Steve Spurrier is one of the 10 best coaches of all time. He owned just about everyone but Bowden. Fulmer was not as good as Spurrier, but that goes for a lot of great coaches. There’s a wide gulf between “not as good as Spurrier” and “not good.”

Georgia and Bama were down in part because Tennessee was up. He beat very good Bama teams in 96 and 99 and a Bama team in 95 that was ranked all season. He also beat several very good Georgia teams.
You are just a Fulmer lover period! I am thankful for Fulmer. But, Cutcliffe would have won at least one NC coaching the same team, probably more than one!!! EVERYONE SAW what happended to UT's OFFENSE when Cutcliffe left, came back, and left again!!! Georgia and Bama weren't even close to what they have been during Heupel's seasons compared to what they were when Fulmer was HC. Saban wasn't coaching Bama until 2006! Kirby Smart wasn't at Georgia either! Your statements are showing your love for Fulmer and ability to IGNORE FACTS, PERIOD!!! Fulmer was such a good HC and offensive mind that he thought Dave Clawson would be an OFFENSIVE GENIUS versus the mighty SEC Ds! Yeah, that offense really flourished under Clawson and Fulmer when it scored 14 or LESS POINTS against FL, AU, NORTHERN ILLINOIS, UGA, Bama, USC, and THE MIGHTY WYOMING COWBOYS!!! Chavis kept the Vols from going 2-10 that year instead of going 5-7, NOT FULMER!!!

Cutcliffe had a losing record as a head coach. The Bama that just lost to Vanderbilt was no better than many Bama teams that Fulmer beat. Georgia had some good teams during Fulmer’s tenure. You idiots have to realize that you don’t have to be Saban at Bama or Kirby at Georgia to be good.

I think Fulmer probably had an illegitimate kid with your wife.

By Pruitt. This must be why Fulmerite has been trolling Butch Jones. He was trying to stay Beldar's hand.

See what you have done stirred up?

Man, if we had just given him a sabbatical.
Stop with this tired line. Phil got a permanent sabbatical and it was all attributable to his performance. Unfortunately we just made four poor choices in a row for a successor, and I attribute that to horrible administrations until we got Plowman, Boyd and White. End of discussion.

And if you look at the number of NFL draftees after 2001 versus before then, it speaks volumes about his recruiting slipping. The drop in draftees was staggering.
