Fulmer seeking "right person"

SPence has had the track record of doing the interview and not going anywhere, TN was just next on the list. i wasn't shocked.

and when you think about it, he's remaining on a staff with Tommy Bowden, who has been under the gun as much, if not more, than CPF has been at TN. if it's job security he was seeking, despite the extenstion and raise at Clemson, the smart money would be on the guy that's been in the same place for over 20 years.

the fact that he's turned down this job and others in the past, tells me it's more of a lifestyle decision than anything else....

then why go after a guy that's known for that sort of thing?

Spence is an outlier. You shouldn't let that one bug you. He isn't motivated by money in the least. According to one article, he is a devout christian and felt he needed to be in Clemson. I think it says more about the kind of man he is, rather than a mark on UT.

you never know what's going to turn a guy on to a program. it's obvious they were impressed with him, as have been several others.

in other words, i'd hate not to ask and find out later you should have.

The Spence deal is certainly a black eye. Going back a second time to up the ante just leaves me feeling crappy. I know Im blowing it out of proportion, but this guy chose Clemson over the Vols and he did it twice. I can understand him choosing Clemson over Bama (who wouldnt?) and over the Raiders (really, does anyone see Kiffin retiring there?) and over Minn (do I have to even say anything?), but Clemson over us? Just makes me sick that Phil went back a second time.

if you're blowing it out of proportion, then how is it a black eye?

It;s just a little game he plays just before review time to pad the pocket book.
