Fulmer seeking 'right person' : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

"I said from the beginning that Tuesday was a goal and I didn’t want to be held to that,” Fulmer said. “I’ve enjoyed (the interview process), I really have. I probably could have hurried through it and gotten it done right off the bat, but I want to hire the right person and put together the staff as I see it."

Forget about Tuesday.

Personally, I think it's smart to wait and find the right fit. Seems like I read somewhere we already had the offensive recruits that we wanted so why not take our time and get the best guy for the job.

I wonder how many people on this board started screaming when they read the part about Fulmer maybe calling plays.

Henry Winkler. He was cool as hell as The Fonz, and he did wonders with Bobby Boucher in The Waterboy.

If I remember correctly, Winker was actually a very inept coach in The Waterboy. That inaudible guy was was the real Lombardi on that staff.

I don't care if it takes until the start of spring practice. Whatever he does, Fulmer should not hire someone just for the sake of hiring someone, especially if he has all the offensive commitments he wants and they're solid.

Sounds like Fulmer is leaning against doing it himself, but I can understand the interest on his part. He did do a good job when he was UT's OC, which is how he got where he is today. I also know he's good friends with Tom Osborne, who did both jobs during his entire tenure at Nebraska. What would concern me is that Fulmer hasn't called plays on a regular basis in 15 years.

Would much rather he continue with the process. Alabama stayed the course and got Saban, and we don't have a ghost the size of Montana hanging over our program.

alabama has the second recruiting class in the nation. if we don't get the quality of players to offset out sorry coaching, bama may roll over us by 50 next year.

I'll take that bet, even if we sign 0 recruits. Heck, I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt and only take 25 points. In fact, I'll even take UT straight up.
