Fulmer salary issue

Great points, money is a motivator and if he looks over and see's the money Urban recieves then mabye he will be motivated. If it was me coaching this year my ego would motivate me because no 2nd year SEC coach is coming into my conferance and showing me up.

Actually, accross virtually all industries, money has shown survey after survey NOT to be the number 1 motivator. Pay is usually #4 give or take on the job satisfaction rankings. That's why Bama won't have Saban too long. That move had nothing to do with money for him. Bama offered it like an idiot. He'd have took $3 mil or less just to get out of Miami. He spent his 2 years there.

That's my feeling about it, too. If they want to do an extension that basically gives Fulmer bigger guarantees should eh be asked to leave, that might make some sense. But to increase his salary under the current circumstances seems to me to send the wrong signal. While I am sure there are numerous programs out there that would love to have him, I can't think of any big time programs that would and certainly none that would pay him what he makes now. So, to me, its a question of paying him what the market bears and right now the market for him would not seem to require that you put a bunch more $ on the table.

An extension is essentially a $2.05 million raise. No extension, no raise.

Heck, what has he done to earn the last raise he got?

He'll probably get the extension, but no raise...

Salaries in general are going to skyrocket, as a result of Saban's deal at Bama

Didnt Saban get 750,000 for his coordinators. I dont think Fulmer should get a raise, but I think he needs to negotiate a contract that allows him to get more money for trooper and the other assistants.
