There is no way to hide sub par recruiting classes in the SEC. You might could get away with it in other conferences. I said last year that these two no so great classes would bite us and they have. Its going to take time to rebuild it. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Jimmy Hyams (!) just said that an SEC coach told him that Miss. St. had better talent on offense last year than UT.

The bi-polar fans and armchair coaches are out in full force right now. On the field, it is what it is. Most of my attention is focused on the recruiting thread. Reason being, that is where the future of this program is at.

well im not totally off the Lane Train. I just think our recievers, qb, OL and offensive coaching is much to be desired.

QB... forget it, won't see improvement until someone else is under center. O-line doing about as well as can be expected with two walk ons and a guy that came in as a TE playing. Receivers.... This one i just can't come up with a excuse for, it's just not what it should be at this time. Granted, they're not world beaters and they have got some young ones out there. It could be a lot better though out of this group.

Some fans continue to amaze me who expect a miracle in the first season with a new coach. The majority of the players are mainly from Fulmer's recruitment and in my opinion probably wouldn't have made the "watch list" under Lane Kiffin with a few exceptions like Eric Berry. Give the new coach time to get his own recruits in and get experience under his system and guidance. I believe the new coaching staff is excellent and know the game of football very well. They are proven recruiters who know what they are looking for in football players: talent as well as attitude. Some of Phil's players had questionable talent and a "thug" mentality which is what Lane will not put up with. I believe you will see a well-improved team and program in the coming years. The question is: Are the fans patient enough to wait?
Go Vols !!!

Fair weathered fans piss me off. You would have to be completely delustional if you thought that in Kiffin's first year, he was going to take out lack of talented team and change them around into an amazing team. We have very FEW talented players.

are seriously saying they are "jumping off the wagon" after Kiffin hasn't sprinkled magic pixie dust and made us a winning team in 5 games? Really?

Hasn't anyone taken a look at the players he's been left? We have been playing three walkons, for god's sake! What exactly are you expecting? Doesn't anyone understand the concept of rebuilding?

Look, bottom line, you have to have players and we do not. We had two horrible recruiting classes sandwiched around a top ten class with a ton of busts making up the three upper classes. Vince Lombardi couldn't make this a winning team. At least wait until Kiffin has his own guys in the mix before rushing to some kind of judgment or "having one foot off the bandwagon".

QFT.

Some of you people piling on Kiffin should print this and put it under your pillow, maybe it will somehow seep into your thick skulls.

I here a lot of complaining about the Vols' old coaching staff. Here are some numbers...
There are 22 new coaches in college football this year, of them, 13 have a better winning percentage so far than the year before and 4 of them has already equaled or bettered the number of wins from the year before. I will say Lane Kiffen is not in any of those numbers. Fulmers winning percentage all of last year was 41.7% while Kiffen is standing at 40% right now. I know there are more games to be played and I will keep an eye on this as the season goes to see where Kiffen winds up compared to the new coaches. One thing I will say, all he has to do is win 3 more games to match Fulmers record from last year and I believe he will do that, remember Vandy and Kentucky are still left and I'm sure there will be another W in there somewhere.
