Excellent post, Phil has lasted too long, our National Championship was a gift, and if we all think about it, what has he done since, with all the "talent". Check his record against top ten teams since 1999.

how many years not winning the sec do you find acceptable ainge, i thought he was the coach for that purpose. i mean if he was getting us into alot of bcs bowls i could even see your point , he would be making alot of money for the U. But he hasn't done either in a long time. one magical season doesn't give him a free pass.

Well, I can't say I've been here all that long, but I resent the all-too-frequent implication that I'm a fair weather fan b/c I'm pointing out problems in our program. I wouldn't be pissed if I didn't give a s**t.

For the record, I was in favor of hanging RS up by his privates about 4 years ago, and even then, I also said that PF needed the same treatment if he didn't lose RS.

i'll agree with you about fair weather fans ainge, but you can ask anybody who knows me, when fulmer didn't replace sanders in 02 i was calling for his head then. i was at the rain storm florida game when grossman picked us apart, and the alabama game when we lost 34-14. if he would have won one sec championship since 98 i wouldn't be saying what i'm saying, but he hasn't. he can win 10 games every year for the rest he coaches i will call all of them disappointments, if he doesn't win the sec. every year you have one goal to win the sec, he hasn't done it since 98

What did you say last year when RS took two freshman QBs and an LSU castaway to a 10-3 season with a Cotton Bowl blowout? I'm not saying Randy shouldn't be blamed for how badly this offense has played this year, but there some perspective for you.

i said sanders and fulmer should be let go. i didn't have faith in them then and i still don't. NO SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE 98.

Right or wrong, getting rid of Sanders is a starting point. He is a big boy and should understand that his job at a high profile program carries that risk. Other coaches that are associated with the offense should as well. If after RS is gone and we are still bad, then look to other areas of the program to correct.

We are selecting these players from the same talent pool as the other top 5 programs in college football. I don't think they automatically get this bad on their own once they sign the scholarship.

Ainge played like crap- his longest completion was a screen pass. The same people who claims that RC only does the dink and dunk.

Um, these teams don't have the same tradition, fan support, and budget that UT has, so I don't exactly understand what your point is? Your only defense is saying "Hey, it could be worse. We could be Bowling Green."

No where in my post did I call you a fair weather fan.....I'm just saying that you guys want Phil's head now but last year when we went 10-3 with 2 freshman QB's and Rick Clausen at the helm for the last 3 or 4 games of the season nothing was said.....It amazes me how people love you when you're winning and hate you when you're losing

I'll have you know that I mean what I say.

RS's coaching stunk up the place last year. The same thing happened that has happened all over the Fulmer era - our athletes saved our coaches' butts.

Sure they do, but do we want to be part of THAT group??

Or do you mean that the cries I hear are us hollering, "Uncle!" when we play them from now on?

We would probably lose to all of them too. Notre Dame is next. KY and Vandy always play us tough. Where are the moving vans? Give me a paper bag.

The offensive problems have been apparent and building for years. Fulmer has chosen to ignore them, partly because he's managed to pull a few SEC victories out of his butt in recent years in games where the offense was bad and UT may not have deserved to win--take the most recent south carolina games, for example. Fulmer is 3-8 againist spurrier, 1-4 (or 1-5) against richt, lost his last game to florida, has lost three in a row to auburn. That's plenty of evidence of how far the program has fallen. Fulmer had some good talent and some good coaches in the 1990s (cutliffe, marrone), but the offensive talent has fallen off some and the offensive coaching has fallen off a cliff--and the Vols now are an absolute mess. The Vols don't have an offense attack that can score points with merely decent talent--not enough misdirection, no throws to the TE, etc. RS and Washington are obvious problems--and so now is Fulmer. :(
