Fulmer Replacement

Still can't come up with a qualified UT grad? You must be a politician, Charles. Instead of answering the question, you attack your opponent. Nice. Very intellectually impressive.
Just for the heck of it HV, did you take in organic chemistry or advanced calculus. If you did , I'm impressed. Not impressed with your way of trying to cut people down on this board AND GETTING BY WITH IT!

I'm not really sure I see the relevance, but I'll answer your question. I took a number of upper level classes in each of the disciplines you mentioned. Didn't really enjoy them. Biology and mathematics are too sterile and clinical for my tastes. I much prefer the social sciences. Now that I've answered your question, maybe you can help CBC out and answer mine. Are you aware of any UT grads qualified to coach a Top 20 program?

Maybe not a UT grad but someone who coached here previously. There are definitely some of those out there who would come back.

That would have any interest? Name them.

In 15 yrs when CP leaves I'd go in a new direction...outside the Vol family for some new blood.

I should have figured you would ask but I could only think of a couple not mentioned that were still coaching like Walt Harris or Kippy Brown. I'll have to look a little as I do not really keep up w/ coaches that often. I just find it hard to believe that there are not some out there.

Harris and Brown are both Majors guys. Brown may have worked under Fulmer for a year or two, but his primary connection to UT was Majors. The best anecdote I can give about how the guys who worked under Majors feel about UT involves Jon Gruden. After he was named AFC Coach of the Year with the Raiders in 2000, he had Majors come to Kansas City to introduce him at the banquet. When he took the podium, Gruden said something to the effect of "I would like to thank the University of Tennessee for being dumb enough to fire Coach Majors so he could be here tonight instead of out recruiting." If they were still taking shots at UT eight years after Majors left, and only two years after the Vols won the National Championship, I think it's safe to assume those are wounds that aren't going to heal.

$2+ million and the opportunity at UT would heal many wounds I bet. Eyes would open if a real offer was on the table.

As to Kippy Brown, the only coordinator job I know he's ever had was with the Dolphins and he got fired. I'm not sure he has done anything to merit consideration for a job the stature of UT's. Harris is making plenty of money at Stanford. NFL guys like Saunders, Gruden, Smith, etc. would laugh at 2 mil a year. Gruden probably approaches that figure from endorsements and motivational speeches. The money UT pays is nothing special to NFL guys.

ROFL

When securing an NFL HEAD COACH to be the Head Coach at the college level, money is the last thing that works. You don't seem to know much about NFL coaching salaries. Gruden probably already makes more than $2mil/year and the NFL has sweet pensions.

Before your head gets too big go read who we were discussing. I never mentioned Gruden or any NFL head coaches. I'll wait if you would like to edit your post. :whistling:

I did jump to conclusions, but the topic was Gruden/Harris/Kippy in relation to this job and J. Majors. In fact, the post you quoted was mostly about Gruden. :)

No the post was about Gruden talking about Majors which tied into Harris. Here's a website you might enjoy.

I took organic chemistry and calculus at UT. Also I graduated from UT. In 4 years, I'll have graduated from UT again! Double alumni status! I think it's pretty obvious that I more than meet all requirements and should be the next head coach of the Vols.

Seriously? Don't be a terd. I'd really like to stay away from arguing who is more intelligent. The post you quoted mentioned Gruden, am I right? Yes. You then said "2 million blah blah blah" thus, it could be interpreted that you meant Gruden. See? I hope so. I was nice in my original respone, and then you come back as a total obnoxious jerk who insults a poster who always always always tries to be courteous and thoughtful.

I think you do, too. Can I be your OC?

This is "courteous"? I see you still didn't vist the website I linked.

I didn't end up going to UT, but I did get accepted there. Does that qualify me to at least be a manager or something?

This was courteous, and I even point out I jumped to a conclusion. You're still being rude, and its unwarranted, as I see your side of it. The whole link to reading comprehension was out of line. There are many other posters who could use it more than I could.
