Please list below all teams (any level) that have lined up to offer Fulmer a head coaching position since 1998.

I used to think that the first thing any new coach at UT would need to do is implement a more wide open passing attack. Now I think #1 would be recruit speed. #2 would be to revise the strength and conditioning program.

AKA Fire Johny "Towel Waving" Long. Never liked that guy for some reason.

I didn't say coaches don't matter; everything matters, team talent, coaching talent, desire, facilities. What I meant was, in a football program with a successful past, there will be slumps, but there is enough inertia from past success to propel through the slumps to see success in the future.

When I was younger these were called "rebuilding years." Few seem to have the patience for such times now. I was born in the UT hospital and have been a lifelong fan, and have never been ashamed to be a fan. I just hope we don't start booing our own team, throwing things at opponents, or anything else that would bring discredit to ourselves.

I don't think I can sanely admit we have had 9 rebuilding years in a row.

2004 you say?

I don't think a small hiccup before a season not worth mentioning validates any "rebuilding" talk.

Coach Majors came from a national championship program at Pitt to help his alma mater.

As for CPF, all the hours he spends scouting recruits and opponents, counseling student athletes struggling with off-the field matters, giving of his time to charities which presents the university in a favorable manner. All of that time is time he could be playing golf, being with his family, whatever.

Those are sacrifices.

You've got to be kidding me. You people need to get a clue. Fulmer is EXCEPTIONALLY well compensated for doing ALL of the things that you listed. He's not doing them out of the goodness of his heart.

I am willing to give Phil another year only if he relieves the entire defensive coaching staff. The more i watch the more i like what Cut is trying to do with the O. the Defense is killing this team and Chavis or his croanies are doing nothing to fix that problem.

Do you think UT might go after Charlie Strong? Current defensive coordinator at UF. Look what he did with last year's bunch. Monsters.

I don't think they will go after a high profile coach like that. I think MH will try to find another Bruce Pearl.

He would bring instant recruiting credibility wherever he goes. Probably be relatively cheap and expendable if it didn't work out.

Still, there's a faction that wants him out no matter what. For them, the ugly losses to Florida and Alabama were the final straw regardless of what the Vols do the rest of the way, even if they reach the SEC championship game in Atlanta. Some fans on talk shows have gone as far as to say they're hoping for a few more losses this season to get Fulmer out and would gladly sacrifice a trip to the championship game if that means getting a new head coach and a new direction.

No, not us!!!!!!

Very sad

"I'm a fan, too, and get frustrated like anybody else," said Douglas, whose son, Aaron, is one of the top prospects in the state and has already committed to play for the Vols. "But I hear people say, 'I'm a graduate and I'm a fan, but I want them to lose because I want to get rid of Coach Fulmer.'

"I'm sorry, I can't accept that. I don't agree with that. If that's the case, then no … you're not a fan."

I don't care if I get banned or not (just because I don't agree with the views of many on here).....it's sad that we have come to this.

I will never understand why people would ever pull for our coach to fail.....

I dont want the coach to fail. Myself and many others believe it would be best if phil went out on high note so to speak. I would love it if we won the sec and the bowl game. I understand the people that want him to lose though. they belive it will take something drastic to create change. Change is definatley needed.

So just who do we get if Fulmer "goes out on a high note." Gruden. That's a laugh. What about Spurrier? He is about to lose his 3rd straight. There are no guarantees that anybody out there could do any better than Fulmer is doing right now. Support him and support the team. The rest will take care of itself.
