Fulmer Needs To Take The Wheel

I think it’d be a bad move if for no other reason than his age. However, I’ve seen VN come up with about 50 ideas the past 2 weeks that were way worse than this
He's about 10 months older than Saban. He seems to be rested and slimmed down a bit. I wouldn't worry too much. It would probably be smart to have an actual plan in place for how long this would last before he hangs it up for good so we don't wind up with a Bobby Bowden situation.

Never thought I'd say this, but the time has come for the only person who can clean this mess up to step in. He's obviously got booster backing or he would not be athletic director. Seems to get along with Boyd and Plowman. Fan reaction would be mixed, but the nostalgia factor would bring people around. We'd have to give him a raise but I don't think he'd demand much. Give him a few years to pass Neyland's career wins record and teach some guys how to be a head coach. In-state recruiting would pick up.

Isn’t it a little early to be this drunk?

Why? Why on gods green earth would you want Fulmer to take over? He’s ancient in the college football world. If you thought his final few years were bad; they’d really bad in this new day and age of football. I can’t get behind this message, Fulmer has already $hat the bed and rolled in it with this Pruitt situation as is.

Disagree. There are plenty of coaches that could correct this..,,but UT is unwilling to make the changes
I understand. I factored that into my analysis. If I really thought we'd pay someone Jimbo-type money, I'd have a different take. Fulmer is getting $900k a year + $150k retention bonus. So...a million a year. Kiffin is getting $3.9 million at OM. I think that as long as we pay Fulmer a little more than Kiffin gets, he'd be alright. Give Fulmer $4 million a year and he keeps the AD title so we don't have to hire another one. Net cost is $3 million a year. I think it's doable and I think some of those same boosters who helped Fulmer get the AD gig would help buy out Pruitt if it meant getting their guy back on the sidelines. Also, we know Fulmer was involved with hiring Chaney. Fulmer probably had input in other people on the staff (Tee and Jay for sure). I think Fulmer would keep a lot of the staff intact, which would be another cost savings.

Dear God no. He is why we are in the mess we are in now! Fire his ass, now!

You can fire Pruitt and do a search before settling on Fulmer. I think there are a multitude of better options but I think Fulmer would at least be a much better option than Pruitt
It should definitely be characterized as an interim appointment until due diligence is completed. If we can find someone better that the boosters will pay for and the fans won't rebel over, bring 'em on.

Fulmer is unemployable anywhere but at Tennessee, his grasp of the major college game left him around 2000, he cannot adapt to changes in the conference, his lack of ability is known everywhere but ignored at Tennessee, much like the incompetence of Blob Kessling, if it doesn't metter, let Fulmer finish destroying the program as he tried to in 2005 and 2008, the legacy is waning every day now, they couldn't raise enough money for the statue of Doug Dickey, they will never raise the money to build a statue of Fulmer

The most ridiculous thing that I have seen posted. Who do you think started this whole mess several years ago, as he was there about 5 years to long.

Fulmer was fired as head coach 12 years ago because the game passed him by and he was no longer competent, an issue that would only be further magnified by the changes in the game in those interim 12 years. Fulmer is NOT a competent athletic director now, and he should be fired along with the incompetent head coach that he hired. Your proposed solution is to give Fulmer two jobs when he isn't competent at either one of those jobs on a stand-alone basis. Brilliant idea!

Yes. I know. I think he's probably put a lot of thought into where things went wrong and what he would do differently given the chance. There are no guarantees but I think Fulmer could be our slumpbuster. We just need someone who can stabilize us at 8-9 wins a season. Whoever comes next will be the guy to unlock Bama, UF and UGA.
