what a load of bunk... my favorite quote from Fulmer:

“Tennessee has a good football team,” Fulmer said. “They have a lot of good football players returning. They have their issues, certainly, at different positions, but they’re not a bad team at all if they play to the level that they should.”


Nice talk, coach. Under Fulmer, Tennessee had the most annoying habit of never playing to their fullest potential, but only just rising to the level of their competition, so games that weren't even suppose to be close were nailbiters and some of those turned into losses that killed the season.

So Phil, enjoy your microphone on CBS, but statements like that are just retarded.

I'm surprised Fulmer isn't on ESPN...He sure would fit in Tennessee bashing..ESPN lives for it, ever since they caused Manning to lose the Heisman!

After going 5 and 12 in his 17 years as head coach, a lot of Gator fans are sorry to see him go. If Bowden retires at the end of this year it's possible Meyer could go undefeated against 2 of the longest tenured coaches the gators play.
I think Kiffen will bring the Vols back to relevance within a couple of years, if the fans and alumni allow him that long. We had our Zook years, and we'll have to see if Kiffen is your Zook, or if he can deliver. Zook was a great recruiter, just not a good coach.

Mary has her finger on why PF was let go...He couldn't keep up. I hope these Fulmerites give Kiffin a chance..Not for Kiffin's sake but for the teams sake..They had nothing to do with the dismissal of Fulmer..I hope Kiffin isn't our Zook Mary..but good post.

You know, if Fulmer's blood is so orange, through and through, it would seem logical that he would be out there actively defending his school against all of the ridicule being heaped on the Vols and their coach. Strange though, I haven't heard one peep. To the contrary, he's contributing his two cents worth to the ridiculers. Vols vs. the world. Bring it on.

no, but to hear this criticism from Fulmer is like the pot calling the kettle black. He couldn't do it but he's saying his successor needs to? To me, Fulmer just stopped walking the walk. At least we put up basketball numbers on WKU, I remember getting beat by Wyoming last year? that was suppose to be a runaway game...

Dude's got the charisma of a graham cracker. Sunny von Bulow would have been a more entertaining television personality.

He did a much better job as an analyst during the bowl season last year than he did on the Phil Fulmer show. I did not expect much from him as an analyst last year, but he actually added a lot as an analyst during the bowl season last year. He did much better than Holtz on ESPN in my opinion.

College football is quickly becoming just another entertainment venue and is less about sporting competition between student-athletes of two schools. Because CBS is really sucking eggs as a network, they'll do anything for sensationalism. Debuting CPF as an analyst on this particular game isn't just coincidence people - it's been planned for weeks. All of you spitting vitriol at the very mention of Fulmer's name are playing right into their hand. Oh well, perhaps you're actually helping to create jobs (journalists have to eat too!) when BHO can't seem to "git 'er done".
