I think Fulmer was a damn good coach when you look at his body of work. I think Kiffin will prove to be a great coach. And who knows maybe Dooley will turn out to be the same. From reading these boards youd think they are all garbage.

Dooley and Kiffin are unproven in the SEC, Fulmer had his time but couldn't get it done in the last few years.

Last few years? I thought he had 2 terrible seasons with 2 good seasons in between. Another thing im tired of hearing. 2005 and 2008 arent to back to back.

Even in his prime, Fulmer really wasn't that great to begin with. He just had more talent than most teams that Tennessee played.

No, it just adds proof to the fact that Fulmer wasn't that stellar. He fell flat repeatedly in big games throughout his career.

No the biggest part of coaching is having great players. I seem to remember him winning the biggest game of his career. Its funny how the games he won werent big. aka THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!!!! Its funny how that works out in some people's minds.

I also seem to remember that Florida State had their third string QB in the game.

Fulmer was..
Who says Kiffin stays at USC long enough to prove his worth?
Dooley has his work cut out for him but its not impossible.

6-21 against Spurrier (Florida), Meyer, Saban, Miles, and Tuberville. Yeah, you're right ... that's an incredible record. Fulmer got owned by the upper echelon of SEC coaches and teams. Absolutely owned.

From October 1994- November 1999 Phil Fulmer lost 4 SEC game. All to florida. Undefeated against every other SEC program during that time. So for a very long time there was 1 guy who was better than him (Spurrier.) I guess that means he was terrible because 1 guy was better.

That's b/c the entire SEC was mediocre during that stretch outside of Florida. The SEC didn't reach its power status until 2001 or so.

Because the SEC wasn't at the level that it was today. We saw what happened when Fulmer actually had to compete in a league with more that one or two good teams.

I was born in LA (I prefer Knoxville FWIW) and have always liked them. USC’s always been #2 for me, I have nothing against CLK and they’ll be more fun to follow until we get it back on the right track.
