I am not a Jonathon Crompton fan. I expected much more from him this season and seriously doubt that he has the capability to lead the Orange.

But, Coach Fulmer is not presenting the situation at the end of the 2nd quarter accurately when he said that Crompton missed a signal. At the end of the preceeding play, Crompton was facing the sideline and looked to be pleading for a play. I was sitting in X5 and my daughter and I was looking straight across the field at all of the coaches on the sideline and no one was flashing a signal. Fulmer was standing with his arms crossed and finally saw Crompton and his pleading and finally called a timeout. My daughter saw the same thing and asked me why the sidelines was not paying attention to Crompton as the clock was winding down. Crompton was directly between us and the coaches on the sideline and no one was paying attention to him until Fulmer finally noticed him flailing his arms and pleading.

I do not know what the miscommunication was, but it was not Crompton missing a signal. It never came.

What did you expect Fulmer to blame himself on missing a signal?

maybe they'd already given it and he forgot while talking trash to their DB's?

What happened is that Crompton was so unconfident he was shocked the center was giving him the ball again. He was just like, "we're better off when the ball is on the ground rather than in my hands"

Maybe they expected Crompton to call his own freaking play...the coaches probably realized there was not enough time to get in a signal without calling a timeout. I still blame Crompton.

I thought Crompton missed the signal on the INT at the end of the half? if you are talking about the timeout that came late I saw that crompton called a TO but walked away not making sure the referee called it, which he didn't, and then realized the clock was still running. Next, he looks back to the sidelines and coaches are still screaming for the TO. Just another piss poor example of a QB.

This reminds me of a story.

When Lombardi went to the Redskins, he took a quick liking to Sonny Jurgensen but still rode him as much as anyone else. During a game, Jurgensen took a sack (after checking off to a different play) that brought up a long 3rd down. Jurgensen came over and asked Lombardi what play to run, and Lombardi said "We don't have a play for 3rd and 21." Jurgensen said "Fine, what should we go with?" Lombardi looked at him and said "You were smart enugh to get us into this situation, so you can get us out of it." Jurgensen went back to the huddle, and Lombardi turned around and cracked up.

Nice try Mrs. Crompton. I'm not buying your story.

Or they just signaled in 2 plays on the play before that and he just forgot the second one.
