Fulmer is still in a "painful state"

So Hambone expected us to lose to Wyoming??? That was part of his ultimate master plan?

No. He knew he had to move when he did. Another loss would make the Hambone Experiment more palatable. I'm sure he expected KY to end the streak after the announcement.

So that's why 2 years later we are still trying to recover from his mess and Fulmer has still not found another coaching job?

G...S...M

And the whole 8 games before argument is ridiculous. It was 8 games ago. We had a losing season. Thanks to Fulmer

Fulmer not getting a coaching job is a weak argument. Note the HC records of his replacements. (GSM.)

You said it was rock bottom, but we were one play away FROM WINNING THE SEC eight games prior. (GSM.)

Lyls, I know we don't agree on this issue, but don't go over the rails.

Not true, the whole reason the OC was fired the year BEFORE was because the offense was struggling after an 8-4 season. Auburn was going down hill for two years and after the second OC could not turn it around then Auburn concluded that the HC was the problem! And they knew a third OC in year three would not help or they would have keep Tubberville.

Auburn simply went to work and brought in better talent the last two years thats why they are better today. And the new talent brought in has been better disciplined so they are still on the team!

And Saban's first year, AL got EVERY single player in the state of AL that AU wanted. Tommy was left without a single three star player from AL after Saban made him look like a fool. Thats the talent AU lost that propelled AL to two straight undeated seasons. Tubberville was to blame not the OC!!

I'm trying to figure out why we have so many exclamation points...anyways...

The talent was still there. Auburn won 8 games. You don't think Tuberville would have won 8 games? You better believe they would have. Tuberville was 9-3, 11-2, and 9-4 after the 2004 perfect season. Tell me where the downfall was please? Please show me where Tuberville was so bad that he didn't deserve to turn it around.

Then why isn't he getting interviews anywhere else?

Who says he's looking for a coaching job now? He's been in an Academy Award winning film, and he's a TV personality.

I refer you to LWS's excellent post on the 20 extra points of attrition we've packed on thanks to the coaching carousel......

Also, when do the excuses end? Everyone wanted Fulmer gone for awhile; what happened to your plan? It should have been executed with a professionalism and a purpose, right? Saban had Bama undefeated regular season by this time. What gives? Why didn't you get it right?

(PS - I'm obviously not attacking you directly, lyls. I think it does beg the question though - if you are going to fire your second greatest coach (and you've been putting the pieces in place since 2007) shouldn't the expectation be get it darn well right the first time?)

That's bull**** and you know it. Everyone knows he has been looking for a job. Please.

NO!!! he would not win 8 games, he lost control of the team like fulmer did his last year.

Tommy lost EVERY/ALL players to Saban his first year in the state of AL. Auburn will have ZERO players drafted to Sabans 6 or 7 from the same year. A Decline in talent.

Second, Auburn was bad on Offense for TWO years in a row. They went through Three OC in the last two years. Example, AU only scores three points against Miss St. in 2008 and ZERO on AL the same year.

Tommy quite recruiting and had several players kicked off the team for behavior. Tommy was past the point of just no return. How would Tommy win 8 games this year if he could not even get one good player in the state of AL? Saban made him a laughing stock like Fulmer!

Um, okay? Who says he has to recruit Alabama? He was (and is) a good recruiter and he would have won seven games in the regular season like Chizik did.

Auburn wins:

La. Tech
Miss St.
West Virginia
Ball State
Tennessee
Ole Miss
Furman

You are telling me Tuberville couldn't beat those teams? And they got owned by Arkansas, and lost to Kentucky. Tuberville would have been fine. He deserved another chance and Auburn is going to pay for it.

What does that have to do with anything? You get jobs because someone believes you can do the job. Despite their records people believe Kiffin and Dooley can do the job. Nobody hiring believes Fulmer can.

The gave him a second OC and third OC his last season and offense went from bad to worse. Tommy made his name by recruiting the Mobile area, but when Saban came in he mopped up Mobile and Tommy got nothing. Thats when a change was made to bring in someone who could at least get half the talent in AL because Auburn is not a state named school like AL/TN/GA/FL/LA so they are not known outside the state as well.

:eek:lol:

I specifically remember VolDad showing you like 9 quotes from Fulmer about how he wanted to coach again, and how he was going to coach again, and then you come back with crap like this.

Next up: "Fulmer was going to win the SEC East this year..."

After he won 9 games in 09 it would have been the next logical step.

Really? An SEC school five years away from a perfect season isn't known? Please. Tommy would have been fine. Better than the dope they have now.

If other schools thought fulmer was a good coach, they would have hired him right away. He has no offers.

1) You can keep saying GSM all you want, all it does it make you look even dumber.

2) If he's having such a great time as an "actor" and "TV personality" then why would he still be in a painful state?

Fulmer wants to coach again, and apparently NO ONE will even give him a shot. THAT is GSM.

Pretty sure Saban went a whopping 7-6 his first year. Seems like UT might have done that recently.

Except it's not. It's history. It is how it is. It's the reality based consensus. It's just the way it is, the way that it goes.

Hambone is responsible for 2008.

If he had fired Fulmer at the end of the season, Fulmer would be responsible for 2008. That's just the way it is, fellas.

I hope you get down on your knees every night and thank God that people much smarter than you built a society that allows you to exist despite the forces of natural selection.

Fulmer not getting a coaching job is a weak argument. Note the HC records of his replacements .

The UT athletic department would rather risk hiring the people with those records than go back to Fulmer, which is telling because we all know how much the checkwriters love to have a UT guy in place. There's some food for thought

Can I just add that once any of you say GSM you should shut up. It makes you sound incredibly daft.

Also, I try to refrain from this, but Flagstaff, it's "losing" record, as, In 2008 the Vols had a losing record. It is not "loosing" as in, The sailor had a problem with prematurely "loosing" his torpedo when overly excited.

Now, sorry about the interruption, carry on.

Amazing. Sometimes I am amazed by the lack of real world experience still on display on VN.

Oh well. Anyway, who says Fulmer is looking for an HC job? All of your links have always supported my contention.
