To fix all this. He just told me so. JK
I would like to start and say I am very excited about our NSD. I think we got some great kids and DD did a great job putting this class together.
Welcome to the hill guys!
But of course I should have known that some article would come out to rain on my parade. All this crud about the violations made by the biggest mistake in UT's history just had to come out while I was doing my happy dance about our new recruits.
Well instead of sulking and drinking... I am trying to look at this in a good way. I think this will be the end of MH. Its time for him to move on and its time for Phil to step up. He loves the program and he has good connections. I think he would do anything and everything for the good of the school.
some Q's:
Would he be paying himself for the buyout? Or would he stop taking the money after he took the AD job?
Do you think we will get hit hard by the NCAA?
Can they possibly punish Kiffy and bro?
Go Vols!!:loco:

just wondering why people can't get past the notion of a former football coach being the AD?

Yes that's the way it was done in the 'good ole days'. D1 athletics is so much more about money and politics than actual athletics. Further with the proliferation of men's and women's sports teams, the AD has to be concerned with more than just football while relegating the other sports to the position of an after thought. While Hamilton may not be the best guy for the position, maybe he's too detached from the athletics and all too focused on the fund raising, I don't see how Fulmer, of all people, is an upgrade in that office.

I know its unpopular around here, but I would love to see UT bring in someone competent with a bit of a proven track record either as an AD or in the Business world. I know many on here like to even look for coaches to come back to UT who may have been here in one capacity or another (lovie smith, john gruden, etc). Does it really matter? Do you think coaches have that as a primary consideration in their mind when taking a job or looking to progress in the coaching ranks? NO. If you think they do - how many coaches do you see flocking to walk the sidelines of Rocky Top? (or of their alma mater/school where they coached coming up) Few and far between.

Some loved Fulmer, some hated him - I was indifferent to the man most of the time. Once it was apparent he was slipping, I was all in favor of his ouster - it just came a couple years too late. I don't think a man you fired for doing a poor job should then be re-hired and given a job with even greater responsibility, especially since much of the role of AD as far as students are concerned are areas he was lax, inefficient, or down right incompetent in when he was coach.

If Hamilton goes, Look around for an actual upgrade..... Vols need to look outside the UT Bubble sometimes......JMO

Hamilton is a fund raising machine. Unless he really, really screws up, he will be allowed to stay here as AD. Remember, we don't have his fund raising skills, then how do we pay for the new facilities?
If he stumbles along and gets lucky with a good hire now and then, he will stay here.
It is all about money. We are one of the few athletic programs that make a profit year in and year out. Not many in that club!
I don't want to admit is but Hamilton stays!!!

He's JK......... I hope.....

Yes I was...
I know it probably would never happen. He may not be a good person for the job but for some reason I just like the thought of someone in power who bleeds orange.

I like Phil. That being said his time is over. He is not an AD. He WAS a hell of a football coach for a long time. Things ran their course and he is gone. Much better for all if we leave it that way.

I don't think Phil will be the next AD, although I can see MH being forced to commit professional seppuku to save us from major NCAA sanctions. The NCAA always seems to cut a school a break if someone's head rolls, no matter if they did the crime or not.

Phil was a great football coach who stayed on a few years too long. He's not the first to do that and won't be the last. In modern college sports, he's probably not a good fit as an athletics director.

"Failure to monitor" is likely a lesser charge than we could have gotten. That is what Michigan was charged with in the training violations scandal and , if I remember correctly, that is what Alabama got with the textbooks scandal. Kiffen was a huge mistake. I am still curious how a team which is only supposed to be able to offer 15 scholarships this year signed 30 players. I know the appeal argument, but that still does not sound legal to me. USC may be sorry they hired him too in the long run.

This is reality. Fulmer had his day and got $6M to walk away. He is not going to be AD.

1. Kick "Summer's Eve" Hamilton to the curb.
2. Hire the RIGHT athletic director. If that means an interim role for Fulmer, so be it. He is not the long-term solution at AD but could hold the fort at Fort Sanders together until reinforcements arrive. It should be clear that it is an interim role and a top shelf search team commissioned to identify and hire a new AD.
3. UGA kicked Derek's dad out as AD to get "young vitality." They got red panties and scandal. The worst thing to worry about with Fulmer is the donut budget.

If Fulmer is EVER hired as the AD I will change my life long support for the school--that's not drastic, that's a fact and I don't plan on doing that. All those Foolmerites need to go support Vandy. If Fulmer has such good connections why can't he get a job coaching, anywhere? He's done, stick a fork in him.

It cracks me up that people dwell so much on a ex-coach that won us a championship. Let the man R.I.P like his career did .
