Fulmer interested in UConn?

Not a smart move by Phillip. If and when UConn turns him down, he will truly understand why he lost his job at Tennessee.

Don't over glorify the UCONN job. Edsell was a good solid coach that brought the program up from a doormat to a decent competitor, but didn't blaze trails. He won the conference by attrition. By all accounts a season final record as they had should not win conference titles. Edsall may be a great coach in a viable program who knows. It is still an up and comer program. A CPF hire may seem dumb to us, but a big catch to them. They cannot pay the big bucks for a top coach. You either get a national name at a bargain or another up and coming coach.

If they can pay $4 million a year combined for Calhoun and Auriemma, why can't they afford a football coach? Is their money tied up with basketball? Not enough interest in football?

Maybe. I'm just going on the fact that UCONN football is just recently on the radar, mainly because of Edsall, but still a backseat commodity there. Maybe they are interested in continuing to build it since they found the radar. Being such a huge program in basketball, I would say that gets precedent over football still.

The Huskie boards are lighting up about it. Most of the fans seems to want him over Leach and RR. They love the fact he can recruit the south.

I think it would be a great move for him. If he could manage to just pull in top 30 recruiting classes each year there is no reason he could win the Big East multiple times.

I doubt any football coach is going to get a top 30 class yearly at UCONN.

No they wouldn't.

If they are serious about building a football program, you don't hire a has been like Fulmer. It would work out about as well as Majors going back to Pitt.

How many other coaches with a 3-1 winning percentage and a NC on their resumes are beating the door down to coach at UConn?

Which is a big plus.

However, pulling a kid from Atlanta to Knoxville is a little easier than pulling him to Connecticut.

Uconn should be so lucky to have Tennessee's leftovers lol. Nobody wants a washed up coach, if so Larry Coaker wouldnt be coaching a division 50 naia team.

I hope Fulmer gets this job. I was calling for his head the last few years he was here but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see a Tennessean be successful somewhere else... even if he already has millions.

I'm sure every Ohio St. fan is hoping Les Miles goes to Michigan too.

at LSU, which is in America's toughest football conference. I think he'd make Michigan a lot better than it has been--and keep in mind that the big 10/12 is a pretty weak conference nowadays.

I think you got that one wrong... Nick Saban won a NC for Les Miles. He didn't have to build on anything which is exactly what he WOULD have to do at Michigan.

UConn would be lucky to get Fulmer.

So many people talk about how washed up he is...this is a very accurate statement...

I know that if Tennessee Tech hired Fulmer I am pretty sure I would freak out with excitement. He would pull Tech up to new levels.
