I've been to Mule Day several times as a kid, because my grandparents live in Columbia. It's pretty fun as far as Columbia goes, but not spectacular by any means. I'm from Asheville and Bele Chere is much more fun. Mule Day is mostly just a parade through downtown Columbia with lots of Mules who crap on the street, high school marching bands, floats, beauty pagent winners, and then the grand marshall. There are vendors and stuff as well. Last time I went, Goober from Andy Griffith was the marshal. That said, it is definetely a nice middle TN tradition. Fulmer is the biggest star I can ever remember headlining the thing. Say what you will, but Fulmer was NCAA coach of the year one year (I think).

So before reading the article I was like "WTF is Fulmer going to Mule day for in Columbia ,SC?" Has Steve fallen down on the Fulmer Hating that much? It makes sense AFTER you read the article.

Over 200,000 people come to Columbia for the events. The mules used for trecks into the Grand Canyon and used for transporting gear to Mt. Everest base camps are bought in Columbia, TN. It is a fun weekend to "mule kick" back, and have some fun with a bunch of great people.

those in Mid-Tn....come on down. TONS OF PARTIES!

I've been to Mule Day only because my family is from nearby Mt. Pleasant. It's not that big of a deal.
